Did springfield armory discontinue the GI .45? I no longer see it on their website.

That sucks as I've been waiting to hear back from SA about a deployed military unit order for their 1911 GI...if they still make the Mil Spec we could go with that I suppose.  I'll have to see if Lexi e-mails me back today and may just give her a call here shortly.

Bloody shame that was one of the best things going in new 1911s.

Yep they really were something special. The Mil-spec is nice but the GI has the traditional appeal.

I called Springfield on doing a unit order for our deployed unit in Afghanistan and they are not quoting prices for ANY of their 1911 models as they are so far behind...she referred me to their XD/XDM lineup instead and I politely said "no thank you".  I guess if you can find a Springfield you better buy it when you see it.

DONE

Went into the LGS a few weeks ago to see what 1911's they might have in stock and picked up a new loaded they had "onsale" for $850.  Ended up with an NM serial number even though I didn't know what that meant when I put a deposit on it.

I had a colt combat commander 9mm many moons ago and have been kicking myself for getting rid of it, I've found a worthy replacement but in .45 this time

I love that gun
