hey all,, i just picked up a used 1911 and when i was putting it back togather the slide is now stuck. i was at the part where you put that push pin in the side. now its not moving. is this normal? crap. i was not able to put the pin in the side.

its not possible to put the slide on backwards is it? from back to front? man this is a sweet pistol and i do not want to mess it up.

No it should't be possible to put the slide on backwards, not sure how you could've done that one. Is the slide completely in the framerails? You didn't force the slide on did you? Pictures would definitely help. I personally haven't had this problem.

tap the rear end of the slide on the floor thats carpeted, tap not pound.

If the slide stop is still in the pistol,remove it then try to move the slide forward.I have seen a couple times where the slide stop did not go into the barrel link and would cause it to bind.

This pistol shoots amazing. i picked it up at the local show for 425. It shows some wear but in pretty good shape. how can i tell if its had any work done to it? Trigger seems really light, like 3 lbs

Probably the recoil guide rod got wedged in sideways or something.
