im looking at trying my first high power. im in love with single action, and primarly carry one of my 1911's locked and cocked. Im wanting a 9mm for a my supressor that will be here in a few months.
ive heard of a place that sells surplus bhp's some times, CDN or something. im not looking to invest to much, since it will be a project gun. i plan on changing the barrell and other things soon after i get it. i appricate any help or even links on this subject! |
| I'm a BHP fan, but if you are on a tight budget you'll find a bigger selection of CZ75-type guns (also single action), brand new and at more reasonable prices than a good used BHP. I'm not sure on the cost/availability of extended, threaded barrels for either, though, and I believe they may need to be fitted (not always drop-in like newer guns). You could also consider a 9mm 1911 if they are your thing. |

Those tired old pieces are on Gunbroker all the time. Spell it correctly: Hi Power. The "cheap" ones are the Israeli FEG models. FEG is Hungarian. The Israeli HP's are different. OP: The FEG's are nice pistols. FN HP's can still be found, so keep your eyes peeled. |

What he means is some of the surplus Israeli HP's were FEG's. Israel bought both FN and FEG Hi Powers for their police and military. |

It looked legit to me ![]() The serial number is the giveaway.....FN never used an "L" prefix. FEG would build copies of anything with any markings you wanted. A few years ago, some dealers (Centerfire?) were selling some PA 63 .32's made by FEG............you had your choice of slide markings (Walther, Mauser, FN, etc) |
