I was exparementing this weekend w/ various possitions for my IWB holster. I found a reasonably comfortable spot around 330 that let me sit down in a fair amount then just for grins I slid my holster around infront of my hip. I found it rather comfortable, and was surprised. It was much easier to sit and I felt less concerned with it printing. I'm now wondering why more people don't carry this way. What am I missing. It also seemed faster to draw from this possition. THe only disadvatage I can see is a belly getting in the way. Fortunately I don't have that problem yet.

What gun are you carrying?

With shorter barrelled guns it works fine, especially with higher riding holsters.  Gets a little "pokier" with full size guns.

Yep. I carry short barreled guns (P11, 642) IWB appendix and they couldn't hide in a better spot. Great BUG location.

Better not fuck up when you are carrying like that.

I need to get a holster for that.

Great place to carry if you're not a fatass like me. Fast to draw from.

i carry a 4" Kimber in that position. it is very comfortable, whether i'm driving, working, or just walkin around. that is definitely the most easily concealable position for me.

I personally don't like a loaded gun pointed at my goodies.

I've been using appendix carry with my Glock 30 for some time and I've grown to like it much more than the traditionanl strong side hip carry I used in the past.

As was mentioned above the ability to carry a gun in this location will depend on the size of the gun and also your body shape.  Some folks who have som extra baggage up front may never feel cofortable carrying this way.

A lot of folks also feel uneasy carrying with a gun pointing at their other head but it just comes down being confident about safely handling your gun.

The appendix carry may also require you modify how you dress because it will require a closed front garment for proper concealment.

Several things I noticed when I started using appedix carry is that my draw stroke became slightly faster since there is less distance to cover, easier access to my pistol when seated, easier to protect my pistol from grabs, easier to access my pistol during H2H.

The appendix carry isn't the be all/end all of carry methods but it does have a lot of advantages if it will work for you...

Here's a few of pics of how I generally carry.

The holster is a Comp-Tac Pro-Underver modified for appendix carry.

It's quite a bit more difficult to get a pistol away from someone who has it holstered appendix carry than on the side or back.

Good thing that doesnt happen with appendix carry.  True appendix carry will point the gun at your thigh when you're seated.

KS will have CCW on Jan 1 2007 and I think that would be my prefered way. Number one, I see it being easier to conceal that way.

I noticed today however it is pointed at the femoral artery which is a problem as well.  I don't place on discharging in my pants however, nor do I plan on my Kimber going off in its holster

Easier to draw and easier to defend.

One reason why all the bangers carry this way

Yeah right, those fools can't even keep their pants up let alone a pistol...

Makes me wonder how they run away from Po-Po with their pants down around their ankles.

I told Burton to order me an Alessi APX holster for a J-frame today. Should have it in a year or so!

 Exactly.

I actually used that carry method today and it conceals very well.

It is actually a great way to carry. faster, more control over the tool becasue it is center line of the body, easier access inthe H2H fight even grounded. Garrity Gun Leather makes an adjustable cant leather holster that works great.

I just tried it.  It feels comfortable and you can easily keep an eye on if you are printing or not.  I am thinking that it you are going to need the right type of holster to do it.  I have a Sidearmor adjustable cant IWB that I bought about two years ago.  The belt clips are set wide apart to distribute weight over a longe area and that interfears somewhat with carrying like this.  I'd be looking for another holster for this style.

Believe it or not the cloth Uncle Mikes IWB holsters work extremely well for appendix carry.
