I will be buying a new 1911 commander sized pistol in the next 2 weeks. Im leaning towards a Kimber Pro Crry II, but i also like the Springfield Champion, and Colt Commander.
I owned a generic commander sized 1911 and loved it.
So lets hear your opinions
Thanx

Damn hard to go wrong with any of the three. My first choice would be the Colt then Kimber and Springfield.

I would look towards Colt, but then I am a little biased and have benn accused of being a firearms snob.

Back a couple of mo ago I picked up a new roll mark Colt Commander in blue.  It came with some of the nicest cocobolo grips I have seen it a while on a standard pistol.  I can not say enough about how happy I am with weapon.  Fit (slide and barrel) are tight and top notch. This thing is accurate and looks great.  Now here is the best part, brand new, $579 out the door.

I have 3 1911's in my stable now. I've shopped around and bought several types over the years and I keep coming back to Colt.

Of the three I would buy the Kimber.

Just replace the slide stop with a good aftermarket part and you should be good to go.
