If you're in Jeff City, and see the Pizza-Kwik truck/trailer just off Ellis, it's worth the stop. They have good pizza!

It's great. They used to have a place near 50 and Clark, but I think it closed down when the original owner died or something. When I see the trailer, it's right next a roundabout on Ellis, between 54 and 50.

It's definitely got that Jeff City, Greek-style pizza look to it. It does look like something that could have come out of the old place.

What's the actual connection between the trailer people and Greasy Bob (the old Pizza Kwik)? I remember when they started up, one of my friends who used to work at the old Pizza Kwik was upset that they were using the name. Seemed like he said they were just relatives who had never actually worked with Bob. Was he wrong? (BTW, I think you know who I'm referring to. He was a Tuesday nighter.)

ETA: Not that it really matters. If it's good pizza, it's good pizza. (Personally, I'm more of a Shakespeare's fan. I can do the Jeff City style, but it's not my favorite.)

ETA2: BTW, there's a little soul food place running out of Greasy Bob's old Pizza Kwik location. It's good.

I believe that's true, that TW said relatives were using the name and original recipe. I never went to the original location, so I never met the owner, and didn't even remember that story until you just reminded me. I know Blitz_308 used to go there too, but I don't think he was the one who told me about that.

Greasy Bob's was a trip.

I haven't tried the trailer pizza yet. I don't eat pizza often these days but I'll keep it in mind if I do.

Last couple weeks I was doing inspections around Jeff. The inspector is a Jeff local and showed me around some local lunch spots. Echo lounge,arris pizza,sweet smoke bbq,veits. I could really pack on some weight like that.

The Pizza Quik trailer comes to my hometown a couple of times a year when our church is having some kind of event. They dontate so many $'s per pizza to the church. Pretty excellent pizza as far as I'm concerned, but I'm far from a pizza snob.

Folks that are operating the Pizza-Quick truck are relatives of Bob's. Kids& Grandkids I believe. Kids worked at the old brick&mortar shop so they actually made the pizza. Truck started out as a"part time" gig and grew into what it is now. So not just relatives using the name&formula.

They don't seem to be doing as much lately. Every time we go by there, the truck is jst parked back by the building, instead of out by the road and open.

Went to food truck Fridays for the last 3 weeks and they've been open each time I went. Went to Fattys 2 times and the spicy catfish place once. Both great places, as well as the lemonade stand.

Maybe they're just doing events. They used to have it set up in the lot next to the roundabout every Thursday evening, but it's just parked farther back by the building lately.

Probably making more money, since it's warmer. I've never seen them elsewhere. I still want to try Alpha Dogs, but never able to make it to where they are or only notice their posts after the event happened. They've also not posted since last year. Maybe they closed up for good.

The only place I have a chance to see them is when they set up next to the road. When they aren't open, they usually park it in the back of the lot by the building, and plug it in.

I know they've been parked up at the Truman Building over lunchtime all week for some kind of state employee celebration thingy, but today was the last day.

Probably going a little OT but... dare I say it... Casey's pizza is actually pretty good too, if you can get past the mental hurdle of eating "gas station pizza" as Mrs. Midmo puts it.

I think the last time I had Casey's pizza was about 2005 timeframe, when I worked next door at Pro Cycle. Didn't care for it then, but maybe things have changed.

I don't mind gas station pizza, and the local one in town has one that is really good.

I just like to get the Pizza-Kwik sometimes, because it's also very good and is different.

Pizza Quik didn't show up today. Not sure if it was the forecast or not. I tried Southern BBQ instead. I think the rib meal was priced a few bucks too high, but great overall. I guess the guy didn't have a lot of ribs on hand or he just sold a bunch. I got there about 330PM and he had a line. I get my order in and he tells me you're getting the last of them.

Will try again next week for pizza.

Good Casey's exists for sure. It's store dependent. Locally, the shop in Union has horrible hot food. The one in St. Clair has been good enough we'll order out and have our daughter pick it up. She's practically neighbors with them.

I think the Truman Building's cafeteria was shut down last week for maintenance, so they brought in the food trucks.

The Elvira:

Pros:

Lots of toppings. Crust was crisp and not doughy, like a lot of places I've been to here. People running the truck were nice and friendly. Took about 16 minutes from ordering to leaving. Overall, it's pretty good. Had half the pie for dinner and will have the other half for lunch tomorrow.

Cons:

Could use a bit more sauce. The way the pizza is cut into the mini pieces is a turn off. Makes a simple meal into a more messy one. Hands were all oily/greasy from handling them. Other than that, I got nothing.

I didn't see a schedule, and when I try to scroll or click on anything I get a pop-up to log in. Not a big deal though, since Thursday evening is all that's available to me. They're either there or they're not. Thanks for trying to help.
