DACA spent the Obama years getting fat. Premier spent the Obama years getting big. DACA's been on a crash diet since Trump was 1st elected, but while I didn't make any money this weekend, they were hopeful they could have several shows next year - hopefully not on top of Premier or American. |

Made it to the Big Sandy show Saturday for a few hours. Typical small show in a small town. Mostly people trading their stuff that they do not play with anymore. Did see a guy walking through with a Colt 1851 Roberts conversion and a blunderbuss pistol with what appeared to be arabic markings on it. |

Had a really good weekend in Bryan, but most vendors I talked to said it was so-so. It never got busy, but the folks there were buying. We had a few folks all the way from Dallas, and my cousin came up from Houston & surprised me. Given it was an Aggie game weekend, and drew a relatively small crowd for the size of the show, I wonder at the future shows there. Most of the crowd were townies, some customers were students buying cheap guns, some were gun show junkies just down for the show - but comparatively few were Aggies in town for the game. It's a very nice facility w/ plenty of room for larger shows, and it was announced there will be two large shows there in 2027, as opposed to the one large show this year & one next. According to the report I got, the large show in Bryan is a bit smaller than the average Fort Worth Will Rogers show. Texas Gun Shows mantra is "Making Gun Shows Guns Again" but I saw half an island of bobbleheads & Hot Wheels. Plenty of guns, but the vendor makeup is not any more guns/island than a Premier show. With the expansion of two of the largest promoters across the state, one has to wonder exactly how many vendors there are to put guns on tables. I'm booked for Granbury next weekend and another promoter called me last week to see if I could make a different show - sadly, my cloning device is not perfected yet. |

Went to the Leander gun show today for the first time. It was a decent show considering the size of the space. Seemed to be a higher ratio of guns to junk compared to the other small shows around here. Parking lot does suck, but it wasn't designed for that many people. Just went to browse and look for some 9mm subguns, but ended up buying another handgun. |

Had a good time at Mesquite yesterday. Sold a 1911, which paid for a CC9, picked up a new belt as well. Friend of mine picked up a 308 bolt action and a leather backpack. The giveaway AR and the two Kulas LLC tables had some nice looking pistols / SBRs / rifles. Would love to support a local CNC shop, but their pricing was up there. |

It's not an antique or C&R only show like the collector's shows held twice a year in Denton & Waco by the collector associations. Likely some antiques, a lot of C&R lever guns, and a lot of modern stuff as well. Just have reasonable expectations on pricing. If you're wanting to sell to a dealer, keep in mind there's not much money in the show yet 1st thing Saturday morning. Some guy comes by my table at 10 AM Saturday wanting cash, dude, I've not made a sale yet. Unlike the $6 hotdog shows, Waxahachie has bang up food trucks parked out front for delicious, reasonably priced lunch. Given the weather, we'll likely go to the brewpub just south of downtown Saturday night, the College Street pub has limited seating inside. Their patio is delightful in the right weather, but not if it's raining. |
