Well, I seem to have gotten myself in a bit of trouble fitting a thumb saftey.

I was filing it carefully, and checking my progress often, when the thumb saftey went in all the way.

Problem is, now I can't get it back out. . . .

So, any 1911 guru's or smiths in the Lafayette/Indy area who can help me out?

Nevermind.

Got to looking at it, and by a stroke of luck managed to push the sear forward enough to get the saftey out.

Got it all apart and then continued the job, but I put the hammer and sear pins in from the other side, so that if it happened again I could push them out and drop the internals clear.

Got it all done and reassembled.  Gotta eventually take it apart and clean and lube it, but for now it passes a function check and the saftey works like it's supposed to.  Not bad for a 1911 noob methinks.
