Anyone go see 2016: Obama's America yet? Started on one screen in Texas and is now starting to gain real traction. Showing at a handful of theaters around SE Wisconsin w/ a full daily schedule. Thinking about going to the late one tonight –– not big on spending $ at the movie theater, don't expect to learn anything new or be entertained but I figure it is worth my investment. How often does the opposite of a Michael Moore POS "documentary" get such screen coverage? Ever? Interesting news stories indicating it has big turnout (for the type of work it is) in New York and other unexpected places. Hope this is a sign to come. Like I said, spending a few bucks and spreading the word is probably a helpful thing. I should have setup an Arf-viewing party. |
|
I saw it in Appleton this afternoon. Everybody should see and bring a lib friend. Very nicely done, and it used Obama's book "Dreams FROM my father" and his actions in the first 3.5 years to explain how he sees America. Hint it is not like a normal American.
One thing Obama did in his first weeks in office was return a bust of Churchill to the Brits. It didn't make sense to me nor has anything he has done, except to think he is working to tear apart the United States. The movie explains the return of the bust. The theater was full and most everybody clapped at the end. I give it 3 thumbs up.
See the movie. Ed |
I hope it hits the theaters in the northwoods. I've heard a lot about it, & would like to see it... but not if I've got to drive 100 miles. I'll wait for the "Red Box".
edit to add: just checked out the movie's website to see where it's playing now, and where it's playing. Hello down there... there ARE people in WI living north of Appleton & Eau Claire ya know. Waiting on Red Box... <sigh>

Bring it down to our shop, leave it outside the gate on the road and sell raffle tickets guessing how long it will take to disappear. I shit you not, within an hour, it will be gone. Probably a lot sooner than that. No need for special pickup junk haulers anymore, we just forklift any stuff of scrap valueout onto the road, and in 15 minutes, we'll see an old beat-up pickup truck dragging it's overloaded ass down the street trailing a bunch of sparks. |

"Never bring a knife to a gunfight" was the advice I gave him.
Driving 'down there' is more a matter of economy. I drive trucks. My 'good mileage' vehicle gets 15mpg. At $4 per gallon, a 200 mile round trip would cost me over $50. A 200 mile round trip would get me only as far south as Wausau. Appleton's 175 one way, Eau Claire about the same. 350 mile round trip = almost $100 in fuel. No thanks.... I'm not paying over $100 for gas just to see a movie.

Damn, you must be waaaaay nort! Former resident of the sout side o' Chicago too. Yup, northeast of Eagle River. Born in Mauston WI, 1950. Parents moved to Chicago in 55, so my dad could work construction. Lived near 51st & Western Ave. Graduated Gage Park H.S., 1968, and immediately moved to suburbs (Evergreen Park) when I got married in '72 (wife's from Burbank) where I lived until moving up here in '91. Worked construction (roofing) with my dad from 68-86, locksmithing since 86 (5 years down there, 22 yrs up here). I haven't been to ILL since my mom's funeral in 1997. Both jobs took me back to the "hood" quite often. I used to ride a Harley to work roofing in the hood. Shitheads don't scare me none. I grew up with gangbangers, hung with gangbangers, knew how to deal with gangbangers. Where you from? |

A once, beautiful area is a shooting gallery now. My parents headed for the S/W suburbs when I entered the army. Proud graduate of Chicago Vocational. I've got a couple years on ya. Dealt with the south-side hood rats (inner city and suburban types) as a cop. Familiar with Evergreen Park, Burbank and the surrounding area. Still have an elderly aunt living in Oak Lawn. I'll wait for 2016 to come out on DVD. Grumpy ETA: I heard an interview with the movie's producer. The theatrical release is being expanded, so I wouldn't expect to see a DVD release for a while. |

So what did I learn from watching 2016?
1) O's mother hates Americans and refuses to call them her people, despite being from Kansas 2) O's beliefs stem from idolizing an absentee father who is far from ideal (polygamist, drunk wife abuser, etc.) 3) O's mentor of 8 years while he was growing up in Hawai'i was a card-carrying Communist who hates America 4) O comes from an anti-colonialist, white people are bad background, collectivism good background 5) O is not fit to govern America, much less a third world country O's "Founding Fathers" Frank Marshall Davis - Communist Bill Ayers - Terrorist, Weather Underground Edward Said - Muslim, anti Israel professor Roberto Unger - Harvard Prof, anti-colonial Socialist (my friend had a HLS course with him, brilliant guy but batshit insane left winger) Jeremiah Wright - "God damn America" - 'nuff said D'Souza's three predictions from his book: O wouldn't do anything significant to stop Iran from getting nukes - he hasn't He would spend money as if the deficit doesn't matter - he has If the political climate changes so that he's forced to address the deficit, he will cut the military and raise taxes - sound familiar? D'Souza also talks about debt and how O is using debt as a means to impoverish Americans. He talks to the former Comptroller General of the US (1998-2008) and this guy says we are "2-3 years from where Greece was". Scary thought. If I had a son, I'd want him to be like D'Souza. FBHO in 2012. |

Nice. I do believe in financially supporting this effort though so please buy and share the DVD when it comes out. |
|
I just finished watching it through the Vimeo link.
D'Souza plainly lays out Obama's outlook and thought processes. Scary sh*t that I certainly don't want myself, my children, or my grandchildren to have to deal with. I didn't expect to moved by this but it definitely freaked me out. |

There has been some press that says the Libs are posting it in various locations to keep the creators of 2016 from making the money they deserve. The idea is to keep them them from making money to help suppress further movies, and as a payback to the creators. It also suppresses the box office tallies.
The movie was pulled from both sites due to copyright laws. I feel like these guys made a decent movie, and should be compensated for it. Please go see the movie, but see it in a theater. Ed |

Quoted: Seen it, took the family, bought popcorn and stuff ... glad I did. ![]() Welcome to these parts where it's just a few degrees cooler. The more people that see it the better. Need to figure out a way to do sponsored college student free showings (and other groups). By the way, I just so happened to pick up a loooong box from the FFL this very afternoon. Took a bit of a while but worth the wait!! Then I got home to find another surprise box sitting in the door with some extra goodies. Thanks! ![]() |

Waiting on Red Box... <sigh>
