Hi folks,

I'm new to this group and sorry if this question has been asked before. I have an off list lower receiver (Double Star) and after reading the Ca AW Bill I'm getting the impression it would be legal for me to put a dedicated 22 LR upper on it and go shooting at public facilities. If this correct or am I sadly mistaken?

That's correct. Regardless of what kind of lower or markings it has, it's till only a rimfire .22 and not subject to the AWB. However, you are limited to 10 rd. magazines unless you owned them prior to the ban. I've shot mine at my local indoor range as well as the gun club by my house. There's tons of info at calguns.net in the rifleman's forum. YMMV.

Good Luck!

Great, just wanted to make sure I was interpreting it correctly. Now I just need to decide on which  Rim fire topend to get.  Pity I have seen one in 17 caliber
