Sorry if this is a dupe. Did anyone else catch the show 30 days earlier this week with the Hunter guy who goes to live with a PETA family in California? Parts of that show really set my bullshit meter off. There was this part where this PETA wacko takes the hunter guy to a feed lot some place in California and shows him a pile of very dead calves near the side of the road. The PETA wacko stated that people come by and pick up the dead calves and grind them up into hamburger meat. The guy had no proof of this statement nor was he asked to back up his statement. I really doubt that the USDA and the FDA would allow meat packing plants and slaughter houses to bring in decomposing calves to grind into hamburger meat for human consumtion. it seems to me that if a plant were to do this they would get shut down really fast. in an other segment, they showed some people loading calves onto a trailer to take to the slaughter house and the way they videoed the segment along with the PETA guy's comments proved to me he really knew nothing about moving cattle around. They showed the people loading the calves by kinking their tails to get them to move forward into the trailer. I have herded cattle and calves before and I didn't see anything mean or cruel about the way the guys loaded the calves into the trailer. It's not like you can go stand in the trailer and say "Here cow cow cow" and the calves would come in out of curiosity. The PETA guy made it seem like they were treating the calves so bad and blah-blah blah. IT'S A COW! they are mostly large dumb animals that can hurt you unless you show them who is in charge. If that means kinking their tails to get them to move forward or swatting them across the nose to get them to turn if they are charging you then you do it or you could get hurt. Overall I thought that episode of 30 days just went overboard. |
