Looking to get a chassis for my Savage 110 FCP.

http://www.drakeassociates.us/content/cadex%20lite%20strike%20core

Thing is it says Savage Long action 338CIP.

I understand CIP is a bit longer than 338LM.  But everything my rifle says is 338LM.

I of course haven't called yet, wanted to see what you guys think.....  Or would this be a better question over on the Hide?

Thanks!!!

basically with the "CIP" when buying a chassis that accepts the detach mags, the "CIP" setup allows you to reload your 338LM rounds a little longer in overall length.  regular factory rounds will feed perfectly fine still but the cip mags allow you to have a little more O.A.L in your reloads which some people find more accurate.

which chassis are you thinking for your savage?

when I searched for a long action chassis for my savage, there wasn't much available at the time...  mcree precision had to put me on a waiting list. aics had nothing going on for savage LA.

I ended up selling the rifle,  and buying a sweet rem 700 xcr tactical in 338 LM and put it in an AICS stock with a leupold mark 4 scope 6-20-42....... awesomely accurate rifle

Steevo,

I had priblems finding a LA chassis too, but I finally stumbled on Cadex which sells through drake associates.

check out the link in my first post.

the link is why I asked about 338CIP.  That chassis is available in LA Savage 338CIP.  And all my 110 FCP only says 338LM.

So it sounds like my bottom metal will take 338CIP mags?  The savage uses AICS clones by accurate mag........

I don't think your factory mags will work in the chassis correctly if that's what you meant.

the aics type mags in 338 lapua are  3.725"  long

and the cip mags are 3.850" long

Did you buy the chassis already?

The chassis is 338CIP, which is longer than 338LM.

so as long as the action screws are the right distance apart I should be gtg.......

A 338LM mag should fit a mag well sized for 338CIP, and there should be very little slop because the mag locks into the reciever, not the chassis.

I think......

I know with mcree precision and aics the bottom metal/stock is made for the longer cip mags. I hope they work for you, but at $5 a round I am not chancing wasting rounds from a mag that has wobble or ruining my $3000+ rifle over a few mags that could easily be sold and replaced with correct cip mags
