Beat me to it I guess. I plan to be there if the dog house isn't too cold by then. Shooting Matches 3 weekends in a row is not real popular at my house.  Oh and it's "MC" Footer as in Barefooter as in Barefoot Watersking  I know most people don't get it but I'm able to get the username as needed. See Pic Here |
| Hey Guys, what do I really need to do to get involved in 3-gun. I'm around the Knoxville area and could travel down that direction. Where can I get more info. I always thought it was a match of 3 stages, each involving a -subgun - shotgun -pistol, is this correct? |
There's some links from the midtnshooters web site, IIRC? Basically, you need an AR WITH a sling, a handgun with a good retention holster & a 12ga shotty. Many stages shoot two of the three guns per stage, some shoot only one & some shoot all three!  Most guys use some sort of a M4 varient with some sort of optic: scope, red dot, etc. Handguns run the entire spectrum: 9mm, .40, .45acp, all are semi's. Capacity IS one's friend. Shotty's are normally semi's, although there are some pumps out there. 12ga is required by logic, if not the rules. Knocking down steel plates ain't happening with a 20 or 16ga, IMO.
