| How many here are into the 3-gun competitions? Do they have many around during the spring and summer months? How hard is it to get into? Thanks guys just was curious how many of us montana guys that do it on the weekends or whatever. |

There's quite a few of us. We have a match every month during the spring/summer at the High Ore range near Boulder. The Billings guys put on a couple matches a year as does the club in Logan. The Missoula club usually does a 3-gun too. I expect there will be few in Hamilton next year too. Our club also hosts the Montana Multigun match at the end of the summer which brings competitors from all over.
It's very easy to get into. Where are you located? I can help you get in touch with the local 3-gun guys in your area. |
| Wow, you're way out in the middle of no where. Maybe you can get a few of your buddies together and make a trip down to a match here or in Billings to try it out. There's a guy that drives down from Canada to shoot some of our matches, so it must be worth the drive. It would be great if you got something started up there so I could have a place to compete if ever get some work over in the oil patch |
| LOL yeah i do live up here in the stick have my whole life except when i went to college of course. I live on the family farm south of wolf point a ways and was actually pondering putting up a course out here on my land. It wouldnt take much to make one i dont think and it would benefit a bunch of people. Yeah once i get things figured out i will for sure let you know and you can stop and shot with us for sure. Would love to have anybody thats in the area stop by. |

Julie Golob should get going full bore again this next season. She has done some 3 Gun, so maybe if you get some going there locally Julie would show up! :D Don't forget the one club that got going up in Whitefish?? We did not get to go when Nick got that going since it interfered with other plans. I try and make as many as I can with the boys; still have not made it down to Billings yet though. Get that Great Falls group going!!

I'm up near Havre....about as far from a three-gun match as you can get in the state I'm planning on doing some stuff in Chinook, they're getting a range going pretty good and I have go-ahead to get materials and set up an INFORMAL match. I'm out of cash to buy materials for targets and winter hit. But February and march I plan on getting stuff ready and maybe april or so having an informal shoot and see what attendance is like. I'll probably put it up here if we do. |

I make it that way every once in awhile but not to often i guess. I have a relative that lives in the bear paws we go visit him every once in awhile so whenever i stopped over there i would probably stop in a shoot. |

She just got back into shooting at the end of this season as she had been off to have another child. She has come over on occasion and shot USPSA in Missoula. Julie did come out for the sectional?? in Hamilton sometime in August. good call i have met her husband a few times as he comes to wolf point every so often. Someone told me the other day he said he was a better shooter than she was lol but i suppose he better say that so he doesnt get showed up by his wife. |

I used to compete and hit matches anywhere from Cody, WY to Billings, Logan (Outside of Bozeman) and Missoula. I kept getting an invite to shoot with this group that were into "running and gunning" and didn't take the opportunity for a couple or three years? Anyway, it takes a lot of dedication. The individuals that volunteered and steadfastly participated made it possible. The appeal made it happen, but it took a lot of work on a the part of a dedicated core to see it through year after year. I haven't shot a match since 2011 and can't really remember when/where my last 3-gun was. I've got a fouled back that keeps me on the sidelines though there will come a day I'll get back into it. If I had my choice, I'd always make the 3-guns. They are a blast!
Here's some websites for a couple of ranges. There should be additional links on these sites. Here's a link to the Magic City Action Shooters. Use the contact information and I'm certain any question your have will get answered. MCAS Here's Logan's link as well, you can probably get some info/answers from the contact info there too: Gallitan Action Shooters. One thing that worked really well when I first started shooting was that we'd carpool to the further matches. This may work well for you to get an interested group together. Sometimes there's fellow shooters that you may be able to lodge with if that's necessary. HTH Sly |
| WMD thanks for the input you have some great ideas. Right now we are just getting started and have only a handful of people planning on doing it. But its the perfect about to carpool and share some rooms where ever there is a competition. Also thanks for the link i have already checked them out. This is why i love this place everybody is willing to help a brother out if he or she has questions about something. Love you guys. Although montana arfcommers are the best lol. |

It's getting close(er), backstops for rifle and handgun are there and usable. The 3-gun stuff like flappable steel targets, etc. will be kept in storage and hauled out for matches. Enough vandalism problems we can't leave it out. |
