I know their are specific 9mm buffers available but would I have to use a specific buffer spring as well? Or could I just use a regular AR15 Buffer Spring with a 9mm Buffer? I'm pretty sure I have been using an AR15 Buffer and Buffer Spring with my 9mm upper and it has caused me multiple malfunctions ie FTE and Double Feeds. Just want to hear from the crowd before I dump more money into this thing. Thanks!

Oh, and I have already bought a bran-new 9mm BCG thinking that was the reason for the FTE but no bueno. Thanks guys!

Make absolutely sure that you've either gotten a bolt carrier that's been "ramped" or have someone do that for you before shooting the upper.

If not it'll put undue strain on the lower pins and cause a broken hammer pin or worse, egging of the pin holes. More pronounced in FA but prudent none the less for any 9mm AR shooting.

If you don't know what I'm referring to, I'd suggest a google session on the topic.

I definitely recommend the use of a dedicated 9mm buffer that limits overall travel of the bolt carrier such as the Hahn, Slash, or Spikes. The RRA does not, as it is only heavier. A standard spring will work but I have had better luck using an XP Wolf.

What sort of malfunctions are you experiencing?

I am having double feeds and failure to extract's. I went out and bought a new 9mm bolt thinking that the one I had gotten in the deal was old but it fired 4 rounds fine then started having the same problems as the last. Then it hit me "Doh" could it be my buffer spring? I was thinking maybe it was too heavy but then saw from threads that 9mm buffers are usually heavier. What size/oz buffer are you using with your XP Wolf spring?

Don't you live in Cumming? I have a h a h n and spring you can borrow to try out to see if it fixes your problem. I also have an adadc ramped bolt you can try.

Can you describe your FTE's and Double Feeds in detail?

So... I have had some unusual findings with my 9MM upper which go against the crowd.  I have a ramped bolt and the longer heavier 9MM buffer..... To get the gun to extract and feed reliably I swapped to a carbine buffer.  It runs fine now.  Before that I had been messing with the placement of the mag block, adjusted then replaced the ejector.
My findings don't fit the norm but I post it here as food for thought.

Where are you located?

I've got a fully functioning 9mm that I built and would be more than happy to take a look at yours. Maybe swap some known good parts and figure it out.

Malfunction:
It's weird I thought it might also have to do with my Uzi Mags so I brought multiple magazines to try out (I have 14) On some magazines it will fire a round and the shell will still be stuck onto the Bolt Face and it will try and feed another round causing a Double Feed. On other magazines it will go 4 or so rounds then do the same thing.

To the guys offering to help. Thanks but I am currently overseas at work and will not be home for another 40 days. I will certainly take you up on the offer when I get home. I was just putting the question out there to see if i needed to maybe buy a different buffer spring. Thanks again

sounds like your ejector may not be up high enough into the bolt.
