I have gotten 3 membership cards from AARP in the last couple of weeks, I'm not a member and haven't joined, they are guessing if they send me a card and a bill I'll pay it, NO WAY! I was going to cut the cards up and send them back if they sent a postage paid envelope, but they don't, their return envelope requires a stamp, so all of it just gets thrown away. Scumbags! |

worst company ever. my mom had signed up for them before she died. she died within one year of signing up, so we didn't get the full payout, but i read the fine print and already knew that.
but here is the thing -- they are still sending her renewal notices and bills and junk mail. |

My Mother had a cancer life policy with AARP, pays off if you die of cancer. She had 2 or 3 life insurance policies, the cancer policy was the smallest of the bunch, although none of them were big. It said right on her death certificate that she died of cancer, but that wasn't good enough, they required lab reports from biopsy's confirming the cancer, so I had to get those from the hospital records. The smallest policy required the most hassle to collect! They call those "dread disease" insurance policies, and in general they aren't considered a good deal, not just the fact that you have to die of a certain thing, but all the hoops your relatives will have to jump through to collect them. |

Insurance companies are nothing more than organized crime that have bought their way to complete legalization. The democrats tried to fix healthcare but they failed to attack the insurance companies. The republicans have completely ignored the issue because they were happy with the "agreement", besides why should they care, they have the best insurance and healthcare available. It's like trying to stop the drug trade while allowing the cartels to operate a legal enterprise.
Every other family out there has a sad story that was the cause of some insurance company. It's disgusting how Americans haven't rallied behind some kind of real demand for this to end. It doesn't matter what political affiliation you have, this problem is politically oriented, it's morally oriented. Making it so difficult they either fail to or eventually give up trying to collect, for a grieving family is wrong and if you look for the evidence you'll find insurance company behavior so morally reprehensible it'll make you sick to your stomach. The only reason it continues is because the GOP tells its constitutes that there is no problem, just like the Jedi mind trick, and they believe it because if your guy is in office, regardless of affiliation, it's not kosher to say they are wrong. The problem is far, far, far worse when you dig away the normal looking top layer, just like termites, everything looks just fine as long as you don't look to close all the while the house is rotten from the floor up. |
