I have been doing some research on these stocks and I have not found the answers to my questions. And to state I have not called yet, lol working way to much and not having enough time sucks. But I am looking at getting one of these stocks, and I wanted to know if anyone on here knows if a Winchester model 70 long action will work in them. I have seen where the rem 700 works both short and long. SO I would think mine would work correct? Give me some insight guys!

The AICS is only available for the Remington 700 system, short and long action.  Your Win70 uses an entirely different action and will not fit into the AICS.  With some pretty heavy machining and bedding, it would be possible to fit an AICS to a Win70, but it would be very cost prohibitive.

A good option for you would be the A5 stock from McMillan, or the MCS-T1 or MCS-T4 from Manners Composite Stocks.

Ok I see what your saying. And right now I have it in the McMillan M3A Tactical. great stock but with the Win Mod 70 long action when loading the rounds they have a tendency to shift because of the long aciton. I was hoping to switch to the ACIS stock just because of the removable mags. And now I see that MCS also makes one. Do you think there would be a way to allow the M3A that it is currently in to accept mags?

CDI Precision Gunworks offers bottom metal similar to the Badger Ordnance that takes AICS 5 and 10 rounds magazines.  They list them for several Win70 actions, as well as Howas, FN's and Rem700's.

Ok so this is going to be a stupid question, and I plan on calling and asking Jeff and CDI asap. So if I buy the bottom metal I should be able to just switch out the bottom half currently on the set up and should be able to accept the mags correct?

have you ever used an AICS stocked rifle before? are even an AI rifle for that matter?

the stocks, while comfy and rank major on cool factor, really aren't worth their money. they have horrible seam lines going down them. and just generally feel cheap

And for those who don't care about it being pretty but functional and pretty much bomb-proof, they are worth every penny. This is coming from someone who isn't a huge fan of the AICS but can at least recognize their value as a tough, dependable stock..

Like Lawman said, an outstanding functional stock, solid and accurate.  There's a reason why you don't see very many of them on the used market;  the folks that buy 'em hang on to 'em!

I don't feel that they are all that great for positional shooting (sitting, kneeling, offhand), but YMMV.  I do feel that they are one of the best-designed prone stocks that I have ever used.

Lawman, you coming to my 1300yd shoot in June?

The horrible seam line is because there are actually two shell halves secured to a chassis.  Feels cheap?  I am confident that I could use my rig for short range work too.  That is, beating the ever living sh!t out of somebody with the stock.  Its built like a friggen metal club!

For those actuall interested in an ACIS, here is a write up I did while installing mine:

dugan, I missed your question about installing the CDI Precision setup.  I've never used the CDI setup before, so I don't know.  DBM bottom metal like the Badger Ord and Tactical Rifles (which is what I have) both require some inletting of the stock.  Systems like the HS Precision, which takes a different magazine and is only available for the Rem700, doesn't require inletting.  Sounds like you'll probably have to contact Jeff at CDI Precision and find out.  When you find out, please post the answer here for all our erudition.

I should of been more clear. they are good stocks. solid as hell really. they just feel kind of cheap when you drop that much coin on something you expect lines to be smoother, ect. I'm really digging the new Ashbury stock.

just let me know! i wanna start putting some cash in ur pockets! also, is the frame on that gun steel or aluminum? and if its not steal, will hard chrome work on it? hope your doing well! oh yeah, what do you do with precision rifles?

The frame on your Para is steel, it'll take hard chrome just fine.

I can do a lot of stuff on a precision rifle.  What I can't do I sub out to folks that I trust to work on my own rifles.

Great.  When the Para is wrapped up, I want to get a Badger bolt knob to install on my Remington 700.  Is that something along the lines of what you can do?  PM me your contact info so i can start paying down my 1911 if you get a chance.  Take care!
