YUGO M70 AK UNDERFOLDS

I was curious if this would have to be registered as a pistol since when the stock is collapsed it would be below 30inches.  Going to double check first thing next week with the local station to be sure but thought I would get some insight for others aswell as overall insight on the rifle itself.

Sorry if my grammar is poor, I just cannot be assed to correct myself

Save the trip to the local substation.

If the rifle falls into the below category it is a rifle and not a pistol.

Note: Not legal advice.

NRS 202.275

Animus and Ishoot2live and wolfpack

I just wanted to say that I appreciate all your help and advice.

I am currently in the clark county I believe (vegas) and was looking to pick up one of thies.

But was unsure because of its underfold stock that it might be considered a pistol and need to be registered as a pistol in this county.

is $430 a good price for this yugo?  And I believe its built by century arms

This would be my first ak type rifle and just thought of getting one that I could feed it any kind of ammo (wolf) and just shoot for fun with.

My understanding was aslong as the barrel length was 16inch it is considered a rifle.

I will be doing some reading on all my local laws, which I should be doing in the first place.

Again thanks guys,
It is greatly appreciated

One caveat about Century Arms AK's are that they have had the reputation of being slapped together and had serious QC issues in the last few years.  I looked at one of those Yugo's at Discount a few weeks back and the folding stock was wobbly and the barrel looked like a sewer pipe.  I'm sure this weapon did time in the trenches outside Sarajevo in the hands of a Serb at one time.  I picked up an AK made up from a Polish parts kit and assembled by Vector Arms.  I'm quite pleased with it.

The length for legality is measured with the stock extended.

ETA: I am pleased with my Vector AK also.

So then I take it, it would not have to be registered as a pistol?

Sorry guys its late, im tired lol

I should actually take a trip down to discount and see what they have in stock

whats the going prices on the vector's?

Also so thies yugo's are used rifles and not copy's of original's.

Thanks guys

If all els fails what is another good AK with the best bang for the buck

Yugo's are all made from de-milled AK's.  The receiver is chopped in two and the remaining parts are sold as scrap. Companies like Century, Vector and a bunch of other companies import the parts and mate them to an American made receiver and a number of other American parts to comply with USC section 922R rules and then sell them as "new" rifles. Arsenal also makes a nice AK but they are very exspensive for an AK.

I love my stamped Norinco. I bought it about 13 years ago for $275.00 when they were still allowing gun shows at the Henderson Convention Center. That's when guns were selling at a very fair price and imported ammunition (7.62x39 Chinese steel core) was selling for $65.00 for 1300 rounds in sealed tuna cans. We can thank Clinton for that stuff going away.

My Norinco has been a very good rifle and I have never had any problems with it whatsoever. It is a pleasure to shoot and it is a tack driver at 200m with the factory iron sights. I can't believe how much the prices on Norinco's have gone up compared to what I originally paid for mine.

I dont know to much on ak's but I heard aswell that norinco's were good.

The ones I find here are mostly .223 I believe, I still dig the yugo but am having some second thoughts on it.

Appreciate all the help guys

When you're buying either a Yugo or a Century, always remember Caveat Emptor - Let the Buyer Beware - Yugo AKs have a less than sterling reputation for quality of workmanship and a great many of the parts kits are very old and well-used (unlike the Polish kits which usually look arsenal-new). The less said of Century the better. Century guns are of hit-or-miss quality. Their Yugo SKSes are usually top-flight, but their AKs are usually manufactured with a shot-out kit atop a low-quality receiver.

For that price, I'd check the bore and receiver. If the bore is dull or the receiver is warped or mistreated in any way, stay away. Century AKs are like Joe Ken AKs. It's best to just spend a hundred bucks more on an Arsenal or Krebs Custom AK. You'll find yourself not hating yourself as you've found that you've wasted time and money that could have gone into getting what you really wanted in the first place.

one other issue ive noticed is that the yugo's are machined differently in places that may interfere with aftermarket accessories. I got a Romanian WASR-10 from Bill's a few months back and it works fine, just havent been able to get out to the range between range events and windy days to see how it prints.

happy hunting

I got my parts kit from Dan's Ammo. Look for "PMKM spare parts kit" on that page. (Polish underfolders are classified as "PMKM".) I got a "collector's grade" kit. They look nearly new, maybe just test fired and stored before being dismantled. I highly recommend Dans Ammo for buying an underfolder kit. That website lists those kits for $249 with free shipping.

As for receivers...Global trades has had the best receiver out for a while, but everyone is excited about the receivers that Nodak Spud is coming out with. They are supposed to have a receiver made specifically for Polish underfolders soon.

My Polish came from Dan's its real nice kit and I have been buying my receivers from Ohio (Global) they come without holes but that's not a real issue. The 5.45 kits at Ohio are a good deal for a brand new kit for under $300 and some good ones under $250.

They also have receivers for Yugo's pre-drilled

I'll be slapping the last 2 rivets and barrel on my Polish tomarrow, and doing the rivets on my plum ak74 then dropping the barrel on that one.  Polish kit was from Dans,, Plum 74 from Rapid fire and i've got both of them on Global receivers I bought from Ohio Rapid fire..  Probably going to grab another Global for my bulgy Krink as well..
