We just finished the AK class and everyone was asking John, (the instructor) when he was going to teach another one.  John was the lead instructor for Triple Canopy and taught the AK weapon system to contractors going over seas.  This class was much more then a battle field pick up class.  John spent the first two hours in the class room going over key point of the weapon system.  He reinforced real world application, not Hollywood drills that may or may not work when needed.   As you can see by the pictures we had a wide variety of AK's.  Some had iron sights, some with dot sights and some with scopes.  Everyone did very well in all the drills.  Shooters shot State Department qualification courses of fire as well as movers and chaos drills at 200

DSG Arms was nice enough to send hats and t-shirts for everyone in the class.  A big thanks to them for their constant support.  DSG not only sells the stuff, they can run it too

With all the interest that this group stirred we are looking to put another one on the calendar.  Either send me an e-mail if your interested in this type of class or watch this post for dates and specifics.  I you guys have a date in mind Tiger Valley is more then willing to work with your schedule.

We are lucky with the facility that we have where you can do real dynamic training as in this class.  For one drill we put everyone in the pit with movers and one shooter on the line.  Everyone in the pits does something different, run, walk, bob, stop and go.  The targets disappear when hit, more or less like real battle field conditions, it's a blast.  Let us know your needs..

Next AK class is November 21, and 22

I was given an AK-47 when I enter a country where my job was to protect US diplomats and US assets. When we went to the range to test fire and zero our AK, it became clear, I did not possess the skills to make this weapon run as smoothly or as fast as an M4. Over the next few days and a mountain of steel casings, Myself and my teammates worked out our shortcomings on this weapon system. Although the AK may not be the weapon of choice for most, if you own one, why not know how to use it?

Below are details on the course:

This course has something for everyone. If you own an AK type weapon or find your self overseas where a battle field pick up is likely. You need to have a safe working knowledge of this weapon system. By the end of this course you will be taught the skills to operate the AK/AKM and its variants as smoothly and fast as the M4 rifle. Fractions of a second can and will be the difference between life or death in a lethal confrontation. If you find your self in one of these confrontations and the weapon you are holding is an AK/AKM or one of its variants…Do you have the knowledge and skills defend yourself? Because the AK is such a different weapon system than what most Americans are used to, Weapons Manipulation and Ergonomics to include Marksmanship and Safety will be the main Focus throughout this course.

The Course will start with a classroom portion where you will be taught Nomenclature, Cycle of Operation, Care and Cleaning, and Disassemble/Assembly. The range live fire portion will include but not limited to the following; Zeroing Techniques, Marksmanship Fundamentals, Shooting Positions, Loading/Unloading, Clearing Malfunctions, Rifle to Pistol Transitions, Weapons Manipulation While Wounded, Engaging Moving Targets, and much more.

Equipment:  AK/AKM Type Rifle, 3 magazines, magazine pouch, 700 rounds of ammunition, (no armor piercing) Pistol, 3 magazines, magazine pouches, holster, 100 rounds of ammunition, Note taking material, Rifle maintenance equipment, Cold Weather Gear (seasonal), Rain Gear, Backpack, Eye and ear protection, hat, gloves, Snacks/Water/Food, Sun Block/Insect Repellant

Where would you classify the SIG rifles?  Would they be very close to the AK in training or do they require their own course?

Ergonomics of the SIG are very similar to the AK and I think all AK type weapons even the galil would be fine to use during this course.
