| Need recommendations on someone to do some work on my AK locally. I live in Gordon county about 45 mins north of Atlanta, willing to drive for a better job/price just looking for solid work though. Any help would be appreciated greatly, thanks guys and gals. |

In Range in Tn is good and reliable. +1 on what you need done I may have some other ideas. That is who I was gonna recommend. Probably the best AK smith around. Would be a 3-4 hr drive from Calhoun. If all he is needing is a thread job or something like that then it can probably be done closer. |

The AK forum.net will have more answers as well. I have beaucoup parts if its a part issue. |
| Thanks for the replies guys. Got a PAP, got a yugo bolt, need them to become one. Been holding off for awhile, shoots fine but not reliable since every 35 rnds or so the PAP single stack bolt won't strip the rnd from the mag. Tried just polishing the feed ramp with my dremel, it helped but I'm not looking for just OK. This is why I'm going with more experience, I could probably do it just fine but I just want to hand it over and get back a reliable firearm not anything I have to hope I did it right. Maybe on the next one ill try it, just don't have the time in the foreseeable future. Love the rifle, just can't put my stamp on it as it lies which is a waste of space IMO. |

I don't know where my gauge is but anybody with a 7.62x39 gauge could help. Theres a 99% chance it'll drop in and headspace. There are several ways to try at home by making your own go/nogo gauges by adding tape to the back of a dummy round. Many "real" factory AKs will even close on a nogo gauge because the spec of the clymer or whatever gauges are not liberal enough to be eastern bloc. If it doesn't work, I'd try another bolt, as the prescrption is a bit of a PITA. They would have to mill the barrel pin notch and put in an oversized pin which may have to be hand turned. I am not aware if any mods will need to be done to the trunnion, but I doubt it. Does it have a bullet guide like a typical AK? I am pretty confident that I could help you to determine if it was safe to use or not. If not, I couldn't fix it. |

That's the thing, it won't even make contact, can't get close because the lug on the bottom that strips the rnd from the mag drops down much lower and catches the feed ramp. The problem I'm having is that the PAP bolt is a single stack as it was imported that way. It won't reliably feed the double stack mags, but the ramp is higher also. Have to take off some material, reshape feed ramp, and install bullet guide. Then headspace the new yugo bolt that's designed to feed this rifle with double stack mags. |

Looks like theres some vendors that have done several. One is Two Rivers. I'd give them a ring. http://www.tworiversarms.com/ |
