Pretty good shiite. Nice to know that if you get one of their sticks, it should hold together through some rough handling.
That was actually the 4th destruction test they did with that rifle.....you can see all 4 on youtube. While I never saw one blown up, I saw our M40A1's subjected to some pretty astounding unintentional abuse and keep right on ticking.......and hold zero as well! Saw an Unertl scope that spent something like 3 days in the brackish water of the New River in NC. When it was finally brought up, the rifle was trashed (severely rusted), but the scope was wiped down and placed on another M40A1. Ran just fine. |

It should be able to take that abuse since they are billing it at 7100 bucks..and I don't believe that includes the scope. Its marketed as 1/4 moa guaranteed rifle. |

If I'm not mistaken, that pink smiley is about the size of a group of 100 yards they're guaranteeing with that rifle... No question that rifle is put together well, but how about that scope standing up to that abuse? I've been a NightForce whore for a few years now, but U.S. Optics is back on the radar after what I've seen here... Impressive. |

My guess is that with quality rings, base, scope and stock it would hold up just the same. Won't shoot .25 MOA but I bet it won't break.

Many of the tests they subject guns and accessories seem a bit silly but that is the game. I am sure if Larue, AO, etc or some other "popular" company did this test it would be referred to as one of many reasons to buy their stuff. Part of the reason is educated buyers know that it doesn't take 4K to build a rifle that will shoot extremely well. You can tweak and rebarrel a remington or savage an get nearly the accuracy they are getting out of these new class or "Lexus Rifles". They have to prove why they are worth 2X as much in many cases. I think the abuse the bedding, stock, bipod mount, mag / bottom metal are all impressive. Its also things that my savage, which shoots well, would fail miserably at. |

But as with Daniel Defenes popular torture test many of the parts are not made by the company abusing the product. I have badger rings on my 700 and I would bet they would hold up just fine along with my chassis. I know my optic would crap out but as for the other stuff I wouldn't be worried. |

Yes but your Remington 700 is like a dolled up F150. He's trying to make the point that you can have custom formula one performance and it can take the same abuse as a F150. Just about every rifle I have could take some abuse, but none are that level of precision. Generally minor improvements in accuracy create less reliability and more things that can negatively impact it. Not sure what you have it in chassis wise, but they can weigh 2-3 LBS more than a quality fiberglass stock. Chassis' are all the rage now but a quality bedded fiberglass stock that can take abuse like the video can be a big difference. |

I think one of the big keys here is that they are not just saying they made something no-body else COULD, but that they DID.
Sure, DD doesn't manufacture all the parts for its guns, but it doesn't claim to. They guarantee a great rifle. They are a systems integrator, like Lockheed is with C-130s or Toyota is with cars. That, and they did the work. A pile o tier 1 parts is no more a rifle than a stack of wood is a house. You're buying all their expertise and experience leading up to the rifle you paid for, too. Someone could give you the exact same set of materials and parts as that rifle and, no offense, I doubt you come up with something nearly as good your first 10 tries. I wouldn't either. Not to mention, you're getting a great support guarantee post production that extends beyond, "here's your rifle, peace out." |
| I asked Jered about it and he said he was going to lower the price to $6175. With some of their new equipment, they were able to streamline the build and pass the savings to the customer. I stopped by the shop yesterday; they've doubled their shop space and brought in new machines - got to see some of the new prototypes they're coming out with. Pretty cool stuff. All the Paragons they've built are sold, they should have some new ones after Christmas. |
