| There were 47 guns from APD (confiscations, turn-ins, recoveries etc,) up for auction and 1 consignment at North Pacific Auctions today. The auctioneer charged a 10% fee on the winning bid. The place was packed. I thought it was fairly well run. It started on time and lasted about an hour. Dealers and Nics-Exempt CHLs were able to check out fairly quickly. I didn't pay much attention to the others, but I think it wasn't that bad. I don't think there were any real bargains. About 5 Makarov's sold with prices between 150 and 175. A Inland M1 carbine with a replacement stock and no bayonet lug went for $600. A Ballester Rigaud went fro about $225. There were a LOT of HiPoints which were bringing $150-$200! |
uafgrad knows I was at this particular auction myself. I ended up with a used cop S&W M586. There was only one bidder who drove the price up a wee bit, and afterwards I found out I was bidding against the guy who I get special ammo from (Terry Miller). We both laughed - had we known who the other was, we wouldn't have fought over it. It was pretty funny when the bag full of electronic scales was one by a young gentlemen - raised a few eyebrows. The bag of crappy cellphones sold, and when the bolt cutters were sold the auctioneer said "Now we don't want to see these back here again, alright?". But the funniest had to be that 10/22. Crappy beatup rifle with no trigger pack as uafgrad noted. I don't think the guy knew it had no guts in it. He could have bought a complete new 10/22 for what he shelled out for that thing. Everytime I think of it I ROTFL. There were some decent deals but the place was flooded with local dealers who wanted to buy them all up cheap just to inflate the price and sell them back off in their stores. There was a nice M1A1 which some people showed up for exclusively. The good prices vanished as bidders competed over them. There were some nice Beretta(s) but the owner happened to be there and recognized his stolen property so they were taken off the auction. I can't believe how awful the non-firearm stuff was - absolute junk - garage sale/bad pawn shop quality. If you paid $50 for all the knives put together, you would have still been ripped off. I drew one conclusion from this all. I figured that the criminals that got caught were so bad/stupid that all they had was crap. We needed some higher class criminals to be caught so there would be some decent stock to bid for. I thought drug dealers could afford better? Perhaps all the good stuff was reclaimed, confiscated by the cops, or went missing along the way because it certainly didn't show up at the auction. If I didn't score on that revolver, I would have wanted a refund on several hours of my life sacrificed to that stinker auction. ETA: I got a good hearty laugh a few weeks ago. At one of the two crappy little stores here in the native village of Kaktovik (there is no bi A/C store), someone was trying to sell a really beat to shite. really old 10/22, even had some rust, all for the killer price of $450. Good grief people! I'm thinking it probably sold when everybody got their dividends.

I hope this doesn't bring down Security Aviation, they have the nicest small planes in the state that I have seen. It's a stupid shame, had he really wanted those rocket launcher pods, they could have been imported and registered as DD's legally. What a wack job!

Apparently he was big on "talk", talk of his fantasy life. I read that one of his employees actually had eye surgery so he would not have to wear glasses because the guy told him that they may be "dropping into a hot zone" and he was worried about his eyeglasses coming off at a critical moment. ![]() Wow. |
Have I got a deal for them....
