What do you think of the background check they run on you to join or remain a member??? |
|
I just heard back from my Dad regarding this.
He said they will accept a valid ccw in lieu of a background check. The check is done by a third party and the club only gets a yes or no. I'm not sure why they are taking on the "responsibility" of ensuring others are obeying the law. |
| When I renewed earlier this month, I did have to show my current CCW permit and NRA membership. I'm not sure what they accomplish with the background check other than possibly preventing those prohibited from owning firearms from using their facilities. Probably a move to reduce and protect themselves from potential liability. |

They just do it go all new members and have been doing if for years. We can't get around the background check part with a ccw that i knkw of though Posted Via AR15.Com Mobile |
I think it SUX!
That being said, you're not required to pass a BG check. Just prove you have recently. You can do that by presenting proof by way of: CCW, recent firearm purchase, job requirement, etc. If you can't prove it, they charge $15.00 for a third party check, that, as mentioned above, they only get go/no go. I credit most of the liability changes to the fact that the president has a past history of being a lawyer. Brian |

It's probably driven by liability reasons for their insurance. Honestly, the money the club spends on the checks concerns me more than the fact they are doing them. But I work at Boeing, so the gov't already knows all it wants to about me. The club doesn't actually spend anything on these. The cost is member paid. Brian |

When I first joined the club back in the 1980's you had to get a police records check from your local police office to show you where not a felon to join the club. They are just going back to the way it was in years passed.
My father joined ARPC when it was in its original location, and remained a member until the late 90's. He never had to do a background check. |
