New to Site. Any AR shooting groups in the Spring area?

Welcome to the site. I can partially answer your question though it may ruffle some feathers. A great majority of the members here don't really shoot that much if at all. There are also a lot that don't own a AR. It can take a while before you find some good people to shoot with. |

Well, there is a Houston Crew. They tend to congregate well South of us around downtown, the crime-free montrose, etc.
They tend to meet on Tuesdays. Look for their Tuesday meets. That being said. I do shoot and have ARs (work on them and am an FFL) and live just North of Tomball. Tuesdays are bad for me as I'm a Mason at Tomball Lodge #1096 and we have work meetings on Tuesdays CMOS lives out this way as do others.....let's meet on a Wednesday at Pecos Grilling Company a block or two North of 2920 and 249 |

If anyone needs an excuse to go shooting in the North Austin area I'm at the range at least once a week.

I would venture that 35% people on the board own and shoot their AR. The rest either own one or don't and never shoot it. Just remember that when getting advice on the board. |

Usually shoot at Spring Guns and Ammo. Hope you don't buy ammo in there. Federal 55gr FMJ 500 pack for $250? They're dreamin'. They used to carry On Target, but I haven't seen it in there recently. Quoted:
Check out the DMG matches at Thunder Gun Range in Conroe. This. Check out Thunder. Great family owned range. |

I didn't have an AR when I came to ARFCOM I was a shotgunner and a mini 14 was most tactical rifle I had. Now I have a 6920 and shoot a few times a month. Though I only shoot 20-30 rounds per session.
Welcome to ARFCOM. |

Welcome to Arfcom
There are groups that shoot. I'll PM you about a shoot coming up at the end of the month with a good group of guys. I havent seen anything in months about the Houston Crew Tuesday Meetups. I tried to catch up with them a few times before the Holidays last year but never did due to work. Anybody know if they are still getting together and if so where are they posting the plans for said meetups. Radio_Man |

Had me going there for a minute. Just stocked up on Federal 223 and checked my receipt 285.00 per 1000. When was that? This Sunday I distinctly saw 500 round boxes of Federal 55gr for $250. That goes along with the high end of prices I saw at the HGCA show a couple of weekends ago. |
| I've shot at Spring a few times––nothing too extravagant, just rattled a few rounds off. Their ammo prices always seem good when I'm there, especially on the bulk stuff on the floor––there's some new 50gr AE223 with a gray tip (ballistic tip) out there in a black box like the AE223J––could that have been what you saw? I want to try some––seems pretty cheap for Btip ammo. |

In the non-ARCOM world too. About half to 2/3rd's of coworkers, colleagues, and neighbors I know who own an AR don't shoot, barely once a year. They don't much about their AR either, unless they've been former US.Mil. Of course, I don't fault them. Cost of ammo, really hot heavy humid weather in HOU, bugs, then cleaning the things in the heat, bugs, etc. Welcome to ARFCOM. BTW, I do shoot, but I'm now in an "accumulation mode", meaning that I'm building my stash and not blowing ammo reserves until at least Nov...not until this Obamanation in office is GONE. |

Well I do own two AR's, I used to run mostly AK's and finally decided to venture in to AR's now. I work parttime for a Gun Shop in Buda but I live in San Antonio. I like to shoot every other weekend (payday weekend of course). I'l normally show up at the Bullethole to get a private bay so we can move and shoot and work tactics but also to be amongst people you can build trust with and not have to worry about unskilled shooters. I also shoot at Cedar Ridge from time to time.
I am wanting to start fresh with hopefully those who own AR's can bring your own guns and ammo and wanting to have some fun shooting and maybe working some tactics. If you live in the San Antonio area, hit me up via PM or email here. Take Care - John |
