I would like an AR smith  to take a look at my XM177E2 style upper.  The carrier binds up on the Gas Tube during cycling,  the bolt cycles but won't fully close (about 1/4" from being in full battery). It isn't fun tapping the forward assist after every round.  The Gas Tube is slightly canted to the left in the charging handle slot, causing the binding.  In my little bit of research it looks like if the barrel nut isn't exactly timed right it could cause my issue.  I am confident that I would be able to do the work myself.  I just can't justify the cost of the tools that I am only going to use once.  (fiance told me that I can't build anymore ARs  )

I know there are other places to post this, but I would to send it out local if possible.

I didn't want to send out any unsolicited emails or IMs, because I don't want to get on anyone's "LIST"

IM or Email  if you would like to get a hold me.

Thanks for the help

Bring her to the next clinic/shoot.  She'll change her mind after putting some steel down range.  On the other hand, she may kick my ass.

Your AR problem should be an easy fix.  Where are you located?

Thanks for the replies,

I'm in Iowa City, but I would send it out to Central Iowa if I needed to.

It depends on when the next build day is.  I work in a seasonal industry and I am 4-6 weeks out of having only time for 2 things: (sleep/work).

JTrout: I Love the 26!  I couldn't be happier.  Thanks for the hookup.

Strongarm: She's a country girl, she can out shoot me with her eyes closed.  I have been told if anymore firearms follow me home then I'll have to decide which one will have to find a new home, sort of a one for one deal.

Speaking of build days, I would love to come out and hang with the hometown crowd.  You guys all seem pretty nice, stand up fellas ( or so the internetz tells me)

I'm going to agree with the rest.  Check out Controlled Chaos Arms on the web and give Michael a call.  He has done some work on my AR and does top notch work!

that is part of the CCA Reliabilty package we offer.  gas tube alignment is one of the checks on the list...  hell of a note, i was in coralville all week at the mariott.  if i'd have known i could have fixed it for you at your place...

bring it over and we'll get you fixed up.  it is about an hour and fifteen minutes to my place from coralville...

Never mind. Check out CCA. If that doesn't work out let's talk.
