I'm building my first upper. I've built several lowers, but now it's time to expand my skills. Anyway, I ordered carbine length gas tubes from JSE, out of Cape. They arrived today, but are straight. I thought it was normal for them to already be bent. If I'm wrong, how do I bend them? I've bent conduit before, & it is near impossible w/o some type of bender, to avoid kinking. Thanks for your help.

Every tube I have ever seen or used had a slight bend up going from gas block to the upper receiver.  If they are straight, I would send them back as opposed to trying to bend them yourself.  If I tried bending them, I would most likely screw them up, but that may just be my luck.

This is what I have used and seen:

I've seen straight tubes on larger caliber builds where the gas block is taller, but never on a 5.56.  +1 on sending it back and getting the right one for your gun.

Yeah I have never seen any straight ones either and I know for certain that they like to kink rather than bend

JSE deals with DPMS parts.  Years ago I had bought a few things from them as well as lambo.

Last time he was up at the belleville gun show we talked with him and all of the parts he does or at least did back then was all from DPMS.

Not that it matters really but just FYI.

Thanks, that's what I thought. But needed confirmation. I'll call them tomorrow.

The offset is slight.  At a casual glance it might appear to be straight.
