Need to ask the hometown exerts. Ar there any restrictions tgo having an AR in Washington? My Son in Law is stationed at Fairchild. I have built him a basic flattop AR and want to make sure it is legal for him to take back to Spokane with him.
So....Any restrictions? |

Legal in WA but if he is domiciled on the base he must comply with the base restrictions as it is federal land. There shouldn't be anything that would prevent him from having it other than red tape - IE registering it with the base security, possibly kept in armory etc. This is a non-issue if he is off base and doesn't take the rifle on to the post. |

Shadowhawk- They are currently living off base. When they lived in base housing, my daughter had to register her .38 with the base security forces, but she could carry it with her between her house and the front gate with no problem. When coming aboard, she would just tell the SF guy at the gate that she was transporting her firearm to their house. |

Only real restriction is barrel length - has to be 16 OAL Sooooo, 18" or 20" barrels are illegal? I think you mean 16" OAL minimum.
Just to clear up things up, OAL is normally reserved for the entire firearm, while Barrel Length must be greater than 16", while OAL must be greater than 26". You can bring a SBR/SBS or MG into WA, as long as the owner's current Form 1/4 was approved before July 1994 (which is rare). |
