I'll take that $50....just to make it interesting.

There is no reason for Perry to make this move unless everything was not already planned. It's a trade and it's politics.

It gets him into national politics for a future run at President. It gets Hutchinson in Austin. It gets Guiliani a running mate with executive experience with a record of conservative voting on the issues he is the weakest on. Issues that make him un-electable to most of the really conservative Republicans.

He is Dan Quayle Jr. with a solid record of executive leadership experience as a fiscal conservative.
