Hi Are ATV's required to be registered and insured in Texas? If so, any idea how much each will cost me? thanks |

If you are going to ride in Texas Parks and Wildlife areas then you need a Texas OHV Decal. You can find the info here: www.tpwd.state.tx.us/spdest/ohv/ride.phtml If you plan to ride on US Forestry Service land then you can only ride it at the Sam Houston National Forest area. Info here: www.fs.fed.us/r8/texas/ If you are riding on private land then just be safe. Insurance is always a good thing to have on ATV's...which reminds me I need to get some on the Can-Am before to much longer! ![]() BigDozer66 |
I bought a Grizzly in 2003 and financed it thru Yamaha only because it was 6 months at 0%. I paid it off after 5. No insurance was required. No insurance is required by the state but as bigdozer said, it might be at some parks. I don't ride parks so I don't know. I have a lot of friends who insure theirs for theft. Mine stays shut up in the garage in my house and my alarm system is always on so I don't do that either. If you are going to let a lot of others ride it, get insurance. If not and your not worried about theft, it's no big deal. |
