Now let me clarify this before i ask. This same question was posed to me third hand, soooo that being said.
The AWB was expired ( sunset) back in '04. Bush did not sign to renew it, and let it die on his desk. The question: is the law still there, and just need to be renewed? Is the law dead and must be reintroduced by the HOR, ETC?

Let's hear what you have to say!

The law expired in '04.  Congress did not pass a renewal for him to sign.  Bush stated he would sign an extension.  Congress will need to pass one.

My question is this:

So the '94 AWB banned all weapons that were manufactured AFTER Sept of '94. AR's had to be neutered, Glock's came with 10 rounders, Shotguns couldn't be autos with bayo lugs etc. If the weapon or Mag was made BEFORE '94 it was grandfathered in.

If the previous ban is signed again do the years change? Can they still make Sept of '94 the cut-off?

I'm not looking forward to any of this but we'd all be much less hurt if the new cutoff was next year. Think about what you would have to do with all the stuff you've purchased in the past 4 years.

Oh, and I firmly believe that it's truly not an if but a when.

The awb that they are wanting to pass is not the same as the one that expired, the new one includes a lot more weapons than the old and will have no experation date, It will be permanent. It was Joe biden that was the original author of the 94 ban.

the new ban will not ban certain features on  assault rifles , it will ban them compleatly.

This I HIGHLY doubt. If there is something else coming down the pipeline, I'd imagine it'd be a total perma-ban active from the date the bill(s) is/are signed into law, or a more permanent version of the AWB of 94', with the same type of grandfathering, again, affecting everything manufactured prior to the date any such new AWB would go into effect.

My personal feeling here is that a mandatory turn-in/buy-back /forfeiture simply WILL NOT FLY.

I can't speak for all Georgians, but I think I have a pretty good idea of the general attitude, at least in north Georgia. I normally have anywhere between 5-20 people in the shop at any given day. I get chatted up all the time about this very subject. People are just not going to stand for this type of shit. The dems literally are playing with fire here. It's not even about securing a re-election anymore. People seem ready for a full- blown revolution. The funny part is, I have alot of LEO business, and they seem to be the most outspoken.

Short of some 3-letter federal agency camping out in everyone's backyard simultaneously, it's gonna be like pulling teeth for anything like this to be enforced on the local level, at least, in this neck of the woods.
