Took the class last weekend that was done by Robert Reed at the Capitol City Rifle Club (which btw has a 100 and 200 yd range).  It was all range work - no classroom.  I recommend Rob's class to anyone looking for this type of training or refresher.  We shot at various distances from  4 to 25 yards, both hands, strong hand, weak hand, moving, using cover, multiple targets, etc.  We drew with no cover garment, cover garment open in the front and a pullover.  We also loaded each other's guns with periodic dummy rounds to deal with malfunctions.  We had some time before the range closed so we did some bonus work of having the gun holstered and loading a mag using only your strong hand and/or racking the slide using only your strong hand.  For me that's going to take a lot of practice as my carry has combat sights that ramp up with nothing to catch on.  Using the front sight only catching it on the holster is the resolution.  Hopefully I'll never have to experience that

Rob is good guy and had trained with me in the past glad you had a good experiance

there are other options to that technique which are good as well......but the key thing here is this it isnt that you hope not be there but its now you know what to change on your gun....

the purpose of training to these degree is to see what you dont know more than what you do know and what needs to be changed not only in yoursef but your gear.

That's exactly what Rob said.  Sniff.....I love the sights.  But that's an excuse to go shopping

Change the sights. There are a lot of them built with a ledge just for this purpose. You can probably find one that's identical or very similar to the sight picture you're used to.
