A month or so ago I asked about a law that apparently said that any semi-auto that could hold more than 15 rounds of ammo automatically turned it into an Assault Weapon.

I just received the latest Version of ATFE Publication

ATF P 5300.5, “State Laws and Published Ordinances”.

All 426 pages of it.

Opening to page 270 I find New Jersey.  On that page is the list of all the firearms that are considered Assault Weapons.  It carries over to page 271.  And, if I’m reading it correctly, the Official (New Jersey) Definition of what an Assault Weapon is.

Now correct me where I’m wrong here, but as I follow the numbers:

“Title 2C.  The New Jersey Code of Criminal Justice

Chapter 39.  Firearms, Other Dangerous Weapons, and Instruments of Crime.

2C:39-1
W “Assault Firearm” means:

(1) The Following Firearms:
Continued on next page
(2)
(3)
(4) A semi-automatic rifle with a fixed magazine capacity exceeding 15 rounds.”

Did I do it right?
2C:39-1
W(4)

Did I properly write out that law?

By the way, I like (5)dd, the law that deals with ‘“Personalized handgun”’; it made me laugh.  My heart goes out to you shooters.

That says "fixed" magazine. Unless NJ is like Cali, your AR mags are "Removable". Correct?

Correct, "fixed magazine" is what the line states.  (For example, a tube-fed Marlin Model 60 that can hold 19 rds of 22 short)  The entire text of that law is also printed verbatim in the NJ Firearms Laws thread tacked above, if anyone else wants to read it...
