Very possibly a stupid question for the Group Mind:  Commercial reloads using LC 5.56mm brass––5.56mm or .223 Remington?

It could be either, depending on what company it is, and honestly what it says on the box. All the HSM and Bitterroot Valley stuff I've seen is .223.

You know, .223/5.56, the difference is how long it's loaded, bullet-wise.

Most of the stuff I've seen is .223.

Obviously if your rifle is chambered in 5.56, it'll take either.

I run all of my AR's and variants with 5.56 chambers, so I'm not concerned with .223 cartridge dimensions, but as far as reloads go *I Prefer* to see .mil brass, then again, if it's HSM or one of the other large notable reloaders, I'm comfortable with .223 commercial stuff.

I've had bad times with S&B brass, and Fed American Eagle stuff. I've read other failures of Commercial brass that makes me wary, and if I'm going to trust a reload, it need to come from my bench or a major source that'll accept responsibility for a damaged weapon.

And after I posted that and ran out to the beer tasting at 99 Bottles I realized the answer would be, depends on how long it was loaded, and maybe what it was fired in most recently.  I'm not even sure it's all .mil brass...

HA!  Yes sir.

Yeah, I think most remanufactured ammo (of what we're talkin' about here, .223/5.56mm) is found in .223.  Even Black Hills Remanufactured.  Probably so it'll appeal to more folks.
