Im looking for someone local to SE WI into M1 Garands. Looking for someone with a bunch of gas cylinder locks, the two ive tried on my H&R locked up at 11 and 12, so i have to back them off and it leaves alot of slop in the handguards, i want to be able to try a few without having to order a bunch i don't need. I know this is " acceptable" for a service grade M1, but it annoys the hell out of me. My dads H&R and Century M1s lock up tight!

I have the same problem in one of mine.  It still shoots well however so I haven't been too bothered by it.

There is supposed to be some play in it or the handguard can crack from heat expansion. I have one extra lock if you want to try it.
If you have a larger polishing stone you can take some material off the contact side until it comes around to 7 o'clock and then back it off.

The gas cylinder lock provides no primary "tightening" function. It is for locating only.

if the handgaurds are too tight it can adversely affect accuracy.

I may be able to help when I get back from Vacation in a week and half.

I'm located in the lake country area.

i know there is suposed to be some play in it, mine has alot of play that i would like to get rid of a majority of, it seems excessive compared to the numerous M1s ive handled.
