Orientation or OKC gun club tomorrow? I finally submitted my application and wanted to see about stretching the legs one or two of my lowly rifles. I did not know if anyone else will be out there. I will be bringing my MSTN built SPRish build as well as my Accuracy International AW 308 in case the ranges are not too packed.

Ranges will be packed and crap will happen. I'd advise you to wait until another time.
Some crabby old bastard will raise hell about something. It never fails.
Hell, let me know some week day and I'll go out there with you.

Well that kind of sucks. I was hoping to do a little shooting. Are the weekends normally like this on all the rifles ranges? The only weekdays I could make it out, without taking a day off from work, is every other Friday. I work an alternate work schedule and have every other Friday off starting next with next Friday.

Looks like I will still plan on taking my guns just in case but will not be too disappointed if I do not end up shooting. At least my cases I ordered from CTD came in in two days and I have something other than a big Storm case to carry my AI in. I guess if all else fails I will go out next Friday to do some shooting or might have to take a "sick" day from work.

There is an ICORE match tomorrow.  Bring a revolver starts at 9:00.

I do not have one unfortunately. I have a XD 45 and pretty much have neglected pistols as I like shooting rifles more. I have been debating on getting a new pistol but a suppressor for my AI seems to win the debate on what to get. I might swing over and watch some of the match though since it seems like I might not get to shoot.

You must work at D*v*n. My friend has the same schedule.
Fridays are bad because they have several shoots, one right after the other, on the Benchrest Range.
The "Fellowship Shoot",  "Iron Sight Match", and the "Ultimate Squirrel Match" where the same guys shoot one "match" after another.
You do NOT want to be on the range when they are there.
It was just a few weeks ago I went out on Wednesday and Whitey, the Benchrest Range NIC (nazi in charge) shut the range down just as I got there.
It was a totally unscheduled range shut down.
I took a Distinguished Marksman to the High Power range Tuesday and it was tied up all day with an unscheduled team practice.
You just can't tell when a range will be in use until you get out there.
Saturdays can be a beast to get to shoot sometimes, other times not so bad.
It's just a guess on my part what Saturday will be like, but I imagine it will be crowded.
Go to the The OKC Gun Club Calendar to find out if there are any conflicts.
I don't often check and a couple of times I didn't get on the range I wanted.

Nope, don't work for Devon. I do work for another rather large company that has a sister company in the NG field.

To be honest I would be happy with anything past 100yds since that is all I had to shoot to at Banner. At 100yds with the bullets I reloaded and the amount of elevation in the scope mount I have, I was about 2-2.5" high at 100yds. So something to stretch the legs out would be perfect. I do not have to shoot on the High Power Range but would like to make it over there eventually. Looks like I might be shooting after work or changing my day off if necessary.

Edit: The 2-2.5" high is with the scope completely bottomed out. I have no more elevation left to adjust the scope down. I do not really care since I will probably not spend a lot of time shooting at 100yds anymore.

They have metallic chickens set up at 500 meters if you want a challenge.
The rams aren't that hard to hit, neither are the pigs at 300 meters.
Now the turkeys at 380 seem to give people lots of fits.
The metallic silhouette range is between the high power and benchrest ranges.
Just east of the clubhouse.
Take some cheap black paint with you to paint the silhouettes so you can tell where you are hitting.
A 20x-60x spotting scope is a big plus but a 15x-45x will work.

I had heard we could shoot on this range but had to notify the person in charge of the range. Is that correct or what is the procedure to shoot at the steel? I would rather do this then anything but was not going to push my luck first time out of the gate.

Check the website for any information. Or ask at tomorrow's orientation. Or do both. You may get different answers.

HAHAHA. Had a great time out there today. There was a whole 2 people on the rifle range when we got there. Turns out one was an ARFCOMER.

Got to see Patrick shoot a 1.5" group with his AR at 300M. Thats a nice shooting rig. Me I just had fun getting my .308's dialed in. They are pretty nice one hole shooters. Next time I will bring more ammo time permitting and get it out to 300M

It was nice getting to meet Fister and Patrick. The range and club looked pretty empty except the Bullseye Range. I will bring more ammo and my AR's next time and not be leaving when the Arfcomers are showing up. You should have come out Dan, it was a good time.

Dan you gotta keep calling the busy days. It seems its discouraging to enough people that they will just stay away and keep the range clear for the rest of us.

We did hear someone out there with a FA. It must have been a 22 unspressed or a subgun though. No way it was bumped or SA. No we didnt see who it was. They were on a different part of the club.

I don't like crowds out there.
I've seen shit pulled out there that is atrocious, even by an idiot''s standard.
I took our friend from VA out there to shoot. He is a long time competitor and  NRA Distinguished Marksman.
We had one of the OKC Gun Club High Power rifle members turn around on the line, and point his AR in our direction.
No empty chamber indicator or anything, magazine in the rifle.
I had to go through a "safety seminar" before I was allowed to shoot on the range that day.
And we didn't get to shoot because the team was having an unscheduled practice.
I don't go out there when crowds are there.
I don't want to them to get the tractor to pull the rifle barrel out the ass of the next stupid prick I run into on the range.

Just razzing you bud. You did miss it though. Got my AR57 upper out and blasted through some rounds. Boy you talk about lack of recoil. Damn its a fun little rig. Just need sights and maybe a simple optic, a fore grip and I should be good to go. Fun little gun.

You did miss some fine shooting and free brass. Hell I even got my hat knocked off my by 26" er. Later I blew off a scope cap off my scope with it. Damn thing is just unrulely light. Not like its little brother. That bad boys a driver. Flat and heavy. I think Patrick was jealous of my long gun though.
