| Do you find yourself doing anything different now? I find that I'm locking my doors and giving hard looks at every car that comes down my street. My neighbor has been intermittently parking his cars in driveways of seasonals and today plowed all of their driveways on our street. |

I know of two restaurant owners who are now armed in Ashtabula and Saybrook twp. I keep an AR next to the bed in addition to my .45 and my wife keeps something familar to Shotar on her nightstand at night. Dogs are now in the garage everynight and will stay in there when the weather turns nice, they bark and that is all I ask of them.
I have had talks with the neighbors and we keep an eye for each other. We have always had somewhat iffy response times in South county, my only concern is thugs getting emboldened with the lack of patrols. |
| If you haven't already start locking your house and cars up every night. In addition to this double check all your windows and door locks before you go to bed. If something happens you will be on your own for a while before an ACSO deputy arrives to something that is in progress so be prepared and maybe go over some plans ahead of time with the family. I hope they figure something out w/ the budget ASAP but until then you as individual residents will have to work on looking out for one another. I know those of us that border the area are expecting the worst. With all the information out there about how short staffed the SO is I would expect some crime numbers to increase. May just see Meth rise up all over again. |

And its only going to get worst.Wait till the weather warms and the drunks hit the streets, And what about county fair time. The sheriff didn't patrol the fair last year anyway. The fair could be interesting this year though. The extension office buget was cut and they are the ones that support 4-H and now the future is looking unsure. With no 4-H there will be no horse shows, animal judging or Market Animal sale. Without all the kids and adults that come with the animals attendence will fall and consession sales will suffer. I know serveral people who only go to the fair to see the projects kids have worked on. Kids without projects or something else productive to do could get into trouble and cause problems. Even if the sales tax passes in May the collection won't start until Oct., it will be interesting. |
