| What is the best range in the Austin Area? I have grown up just shooting on my own property and now that I am stuck in town im looking for a range to shoot my .357 and AR. Reds seems to be the most organized but it is a little expensive. Is there a definitave place im missing? |

Best is relative. You've got a few choices: Austin Skeet in Manor Downsides: Total dump, populated by scary people. Updside: Very low range-nazi factor, FMJ ok. Eagle Peak Upsides: Very nice facilities. Downsides: High range-nazi factor. FMJ not ok. Firing at a rate that is not painfully slow is disallowed. Hill Country Rifle Upsides: Cheap. 225 yard steel targets. 25 yard steel targets for pistol. Downsides: Owner is very interesting. Closing soon. Pretty much a dump. |
