What's the skinny on automatic knives in Oregon?  What about individual city ordinances?  I'd guess Portland prohibits them.

I Googled it but got conflicting answers, and legalese is moonspeak to me.

Thanks!

Legal IF they are not concealed.  Does showing the pocket clip in the front jeans pocket constitute "concealed?"  Depends on which COP you get and if they want to make an issue out of it.

When I was with the Jackson County Sheriffs Office we only considered double edged knives an issue, all others were given back if the guy turned out legit.

Legally you can get busted for concealed weapon with them if you are not displaying them while on your person.  reality... not an issue if you don't try bringing one into a courthouse or some other stupid act.

the ORS is that all the "bad" knives can't be concealed, but there is no law against owning, buying, selling, carrying, etc. and auto.

there is case law that an exposed knife (e.g. pocket clip and top of knife visible) is not 'concealed'.

Individual cities may have laws, but I've got no specifics on that.  maybe have to google those individual city ordinances.

The ads I've seen for them require that proof of employment as LEO or active military service must be provided (i.e. department letterhead).

Only if you live outside of Oregon.
