I know this has been covered before, BUT.......what is your favorite in each area?

My favorites:

MEAT

Ribs - Oklahoma Joe's - Honorable Mention - Bandana's

Pulled Pork - No Opinion, I haven't found any I don't like.

Brisket - Big Daddy's in St. Joseph. The Kansas City Star printed a review of Sonny Bryan's in Dallas saying the have the best brisket there is. I've had both, they haven't had Big Daddy's, his brisket has a LOT of fat, but it's DAMN GOOD and BETTER than Sonny Bryan's!

Sausage - Smoke House

Burnt Ends - R.J's Bob-Be-Que Shack

Sandwich - Haywards Pit Bar B Que

SIDES

Baked Beans - Fiorella's Jack Stack Barbecue Honorable Mention - Smoke House

Slaw - Smoke House, They win hands down!!!!!!!!!!

Potato Salad - Bandana's

Onion Rings - Fiorella's Jack Stack Barbecue

A couple I find puzzling that people name as great BBQ:

Arthur Bryants

Rosedale BBQ

Well what are your favorites???

The stuff I smoke.  Definately not impressed by Bandana's.

For all around consistent good food on the east side of town, I'm gonna have to go with Smokehouse of 39th St.  Zarda's is good too.  Gate's, is another winner.  The rest, if they're chain/national...nope.

I agree with you on OK Joes, and surprisingly Bandana's.  I think it's better than a lot of stuff.

I like the sausage from Arthur Bryant's.  But not their sauces.

Jacks Stack is a really nice place to eat in general, good food all-around, including the onion rings even.

Also might try First Ward House on the Avenue in St. Joe.  Their stuff's quite good.

I'm a big fan of Oklahoma Joe's.  They have the best Carolina style pulled pork sandwich.

Horrible Mention - Bandanna's    (fixed it for ya)

Dude seriously, Bandanna's sucks!

Have you ever been to bbqforum.com ?  This is a web site my Father created, and it has some of the best information regarding BBQ or Smoking.  You could ck out KC BBQ Society web site that he made for them as well.  Good information regarding KC BBQ.  I'm Sure you can tell that people in my Family are BBQ connoisseur's thanks to my Fathers involvement.  His a BBQ/Smoking King.

Been there, done that (several times). Good (not great) food and LOTS of it.

I haven't tried any Bandana's other than the one in St. Joseph. I really think their ribs are damn good! They use a dry rub and the hickory smoke is almost clear through them. Also they aren't DRY, the meat is still juicy.

No love for LC's off 39th Street?  Its a BBQ shack with an armed guard!

There's a guy who has a little place (tow away trailor deal) called Fat Charlie's that is very good.  Everything I've had there so far has been excellent.  It's off Blue Ridge Cutoff & 40 Hwy.

Bandanna's in Independence is bad.  I haven't been to the one in St Joe, but the one down here uses a lot of liquid smoke.

LC is good as well.   Arthur Bryant's isn't good, but I have to be in the mood for it.

It's a shame Gates BBQ isn't as good as it used to be.  I love their sauce, but their QC has gone down hill over the last 15 years.  Did I say 15 years?  Shit, I'm getting old!

For a girl who grew up with a competition BBQ'er for a father-and cut her teeth on Snead's ribs..
(sidenote-Snead's is not any good anymore)

Big T's on Blue Ridge is the only one I even care for anymore!!

I went to the one just east of downtown a few months ago and ordered a burnt ends sandwich and it was horrible.  I was pretty disappointed.  The one on 40 hwy did great on theirs, though.

Bandanna's is not Kansas City BBQ, don't f'ing talk about it in a best bbq thread that is obviously swayed towards local joints.

1: its not local
2: it sucks
3: its subpar
4: it sucks

This thread needs more mention of Zarda and LC's.

Not KC area, but the best I've found in MO is Missouri Hick BBQ in Cuba, MO.  It's right on old 66.

I don't otherwise see you contributing anything to this thread, so ....
Qualify your answer, why do you think Zarda is "so bad"?

*Everyone in my family got sick there every single time we ate there.  My grandpa was the only exception.  He loved it so we always had to go when he was in town.  This was at the 135th and Metcalf Zarda.
*A lot of kids at my school got food poisoning from Zarda when they catered to our school.  Myself included my senior year.
*Their sauce was terrible.
*Their meat was dry even with "extra" sauce.

I greatly greatly prefer Smokehouse (took over the Zarda at 135th and Metcalf), Jack Stack, and Gates.  Good enough contribution oh watcher of the thread?
