Jan 22 - at least two new anti gun bills will be announced in Judiciary Committee tomorrow:
SB 538 (?) and I don't have the other Bill number yet. Both are Looney bills (literally and no pun intended) Senator Martin Looney - State Sen. district # 11 (D) Microstamping is back - same as last year - so far without ammunition coding as far as I can tell at this point AND a separate bill Banning the possession AND USE of Machine Guns and.........................."Assault Weapons".............. by persons under 18 yrs of age. What is an "Assault Weapon" today? Anything under CGS 53-202 What could be an "Assault Weapon" tomorrow? Any semiauto rifle with a detachable magazine; any tubular fed, semi auto shotgun. Who's seeking that? Rep. Carolyn McCarthy under HR 1022 at the Federal level. Likely to pass? (In an Obama administration with an Eric-Amicus Brief re: Heller against Individual Rights Holder as Atty General and Nancy Pelosi MC-ing the agenda...... VERY LIKELY What would that mean? That would mean Looney, Lawlor, McDonald, et. al., won't necessarily need to draft any new "assault weapon" legislation per se, at the State level if they can sit back and "win" by default at the Federal level and then that would mean - no more Junior CMP shooters shooting Bushmaster and Armalite and Colt Match rifles; that would mean no more Boy Scouts shooting trap at the fish and game clubs with Remington 1100s throughout the state; that would mean seriously impacted and reduced participation by younger shooters which means, even FEWER young adults wanting to shoot, hunt, or even care about having the right to own a gun in the future if they choose. It means, we "older" adult shooters will (and are) dying off, become less of a political voice and within ONE more generation - there will be almost no lawful gun ownership to speak of. |

I think one of the bill numbers is incorrect: HB05578 AN ACT CONCERNING REINSTATEMENT PAYMENT STATEMENTS. ....is how that one is listed unless they reuse the numbers. I'm still checking. Rome Rome, I think you were looking at HB05578 from 2008. Holy sh*t, are we up against it this time around. This is going to be one long legislative session.
I sincerely hope that everyone who checked in on the "New CT Introduction" thread is a member of CCS (Coalition of CT Sportsmen). If not, is helping defend your gun RIGHTS here in CT, worth a $20 bill to you? Also, it is not to early to CALL your state senators and reps about the bills with numbers and those that are being proposed, and ask that they OPPOSE any anti-gun legislation. |
