| Have you heard of any problems with CLEO in cobb county not signing off on a Form4? I have CCW and resident of Marietta not sure what other problems might arise, first time looking into it, THANKS. |

CLEO will NOT sign off in cobb. go the trust route. I live in cobb, formed the trust, and have bought 2 suppressors from Polite Society over the past 6 months.... only thing i don't like about them is allen doesn't live down the street anymore... asshole... now i have to drive... |
I'm in Marietta too, Cobb County Sherif (Neil Warren) WILL signoff on Form 4's/1's , but it's a pretty big ordeal . He has one of his Investigators do a very thorough background check on you before he'll sign .I got a sig on a Form 4 (suppressor) last May and it goes something like this: 1] contact Investigator David Martin 770 499 4628 (nice guy BTW) and then swing by the sheriff's office, second floor, to pick up the application for background check. It's 9 (yes nine) pages long and requires four personal references(non-family), work history for the last ten years, residences for the last 15 years, military history , etc. It's pretty intense. 2] take it home , fill it out , bring it back, let your buddies know that they'll be getting a call from the MAN. Investigator Martin will ask them ALOT of questions about you. 3] wait about a week and pick up your signed Form 4's, get your prints done downstairs while you're at it. All told , I made about 4 trips to the Sheriff's office, never even met the Sheriff. |
So is it 200.00 per can or can I buy multiple under 1 form4? Sorry if stupd question... |
It's a shame the CLEO doesn't understand, or chooses to misunderstand, his role in the process. The only thing he's certifying to is that there's no local ordinance barring NFA ownership. IMO, he's also getting a chance to see if you've been through the doors of his lockup in the very recent past, as well. None of which requires the cavity search that nine pages details. IIRC, it also asks things like 'does your spouse know you're buying NFA?', and 'what are the ages of children in the household'. NOYB, thanks very much ! Quicken Willmaker is good stuff. Byte is correct, it's one $200 per serial-numbered-item that's transferred to a non-FFL/SOT. Call us if you have more questions, Allen |

Tired. Not sleeping well these days. Didn't even read all the thread. E-mail me at [email protected] with a phone number and I'll call you tomorrow. Give a best time to call. Frankly, I'm WAY behind on e-mails and phone messages, so sorry for that. But I'll get you squared away. Take care, Mark |
Is that why my butt hurts??? From what I gathered, it's one of those unfortunate "cover your ass" policies. Sheriff doesn't want to get sued or look like an A-hole on Fox 5 news if something terrible happens w/ a weapon he signed off on. You would think an NICS check would yield sufficient ass coverage, but oh well. When asked if I had children I put " well........I used too"
I'm told it's the exact same check that Deputy applicants go through. Anyways, long story short, a few weeks later I became Grantor & Trustee of the Zippitydoodah Revocable Living Trust. |
