Whats your department's budget per patrolmen?

There are better choices than BM depending how much you can spend

Yes.  Used one overseas for extended periods of time.  No problems to mention.

Charles Daly is putting out some nice M4's.

Finally got to see one close up last weekend, looks like a quality rifle for a great price.

Define use and abuse, because everyone's standards are different.  Some think that shoot 150 rounds at the range, not cleaning it, then shooting another 150 rounds 4 months later is abuse.  Others think running it through a 2,000+ round carbine course with minimal cleaning, and repeating that regimen several times a year is standard use.

Just put 600rds through my new bushy without any hiccups. I have owned 3 others and never had any issues that were not mag/ammo related. There are better but you pay

I have 2 and they run perfectly (even dirty, which is most of the time).

I have a Bushmaster M4 Patrolmens Carbine and it runs fine. My only problem I had was with a bad magazine. I changed magazines and the problem was fixed.

As far as using and abusing it goes. I would not recommend intentionally "abusing" any weapon that your life is going to depend on. The BM M4's are no different than any other AR15 Platform Rifle, they need to be cleaned and maintained regularly if they are being used regularly to ensure they work properly. They are not a rifle that can be repeatedly shot, never cleaned, thrown in the car, and then when you most need it, pulled out and expected to work.

I'm not a cop but I served in the Army and I was always taught that if you take care of your weapons your weapons will take care of you.

Well I have sent a few thousand rounds thru my 2 Bushmasters with only one problem, and that was ammo related. I have one of the LE Patrolman M4A3 types, and an HBAR M4A3 Bushy, both 16 inch carbines.

I do keep mine clean, almost to the levels like when I was in the Army. It's just something I believe in, keeping them clean so they will work when you need them to.

I would say that they are and have handled everything better than I had expected, for a few years now.

But many people here have and use many of the different AR 15's, and M 16's that are out there, so this is just my opinion of Bushmaster rifles, and I have nothing but excellent accuracy and quality to add, oh yeah - dependability. And for the cost, I have been very happy, but I have modified both of mine with several items for more functionality.

I would recommend Bushmaster rifles.

There are Bushmasters currently in the war zones and I'm positive that many have earned the coveted CIB badge because these rifles are damn good IMO.

I have one for sale new in box $925 Tampa area.

The Bushy works well after breakin and some FL state LE use them (DEP-PARKS). I have found them to do well on the range and feed frangible (lead free)better than Armalites.

Dont be scared of a BM just take care of it and it will take care of you.

HEHEHEH  don't tell that to my rifles ...  My 7.5" would call the NRA's version of Child Protective Services on me for extended neglect and abuse.  The fact remains, I would trust my life on NO OTHER RIFLE over my home brew 7.5" AR (that includes a colt upper AR, a LMT upper AR or my old SW M&P AR).  MANY here will attest to the abuse and hard regular use that rifle receives.  I've had it for almost 2 years now and she has close to or over 20,000 rounds down the pipe without EVER having an issue not related to Wolf Ammo (she hates it).

That's a BADASS AR, Omi!!!!!
To the OP, I love my Bushmaster 16".  It was my first AR, which I bought from another member here, and I have put probably in excess of 10K rounds through it over the past two years, and aside from some Wolf FTF problems, not one problem with it.

Is this to say that after 20,000 rnds you never had to change any part's ?

That doesn't look too bad. I was expecting some beat to shit AR that looked like it had been rode hard and put up wet.

That's a nice looking SBR.

In my earlier post I didn't intend to say that you cannot shoot the shit out of an AR as I saw numerous M16A1's when I was in the Army that looked like they had thousands of rounds through them, had been through hell and back, and they kept on running. But they were cleaned regularly and well maintained. One thing I had drilled into me was to maintain a wepaon so I'm kinda anal about cleaning weapons.

Nope, well not exactly -- at a carbine course 2 weeks ago I noticed that when I tried to lock the bolt back, it would not always stay.  It ran perfectly, but the bolt would just not stay back.  I figured it was the bolt catch and ordered a new one.  After replacing it I noticed that the issue continued.  After looking into it a little more I noticed a ton of carbon build up on the bolt.  The bolt was not entering the carrier all the way and not allowing the bolt catch to grab it.  I guess it was my rifles way of telling me to take the bolt apart and clean it.  So I did replace a part, but all the rifle needed was for me to clean the bolt a little.  I think it had been around a year (countless rounds) since I cleaned the bolt.

I got this as soon as the sunset on the AWB . It has about 3500 rnds on it . Be sides the up graded stuff the only things I have done to it was put Wolf springs in the bolt . Ok that and clean it Its a good rifle and was  money well spent in my book . I have run this hard enough to melt the stock hand guards .
