Dang what a nice week. Haven't had a real full week vacation in a long time. Stayed at Ocean Lake campground in girlfriend's parent's camperhouse. Had grandson with us and that was a hoot, he just turned 4 years old. Last weekend was the pier king mac tournament so I didn't get to fish until Monday. Fished the Cherry Grove pier Monday, Wed and Thurs. Didn't get any kings but there was abundant bait and some really nice water. Plenty of blues, some spainish and black drum. Sheepshead haven't moved onto the pilings yet but the experts say it won't be long. The pogy schools were few and far between. The rays and baby sharks were a pain as usual this time of year. Two kings were caught on the Cherry Grove on Tues when I wasn't fishing, a 9# and a 31#. I met some new guys that I hadn't fished with before and saw some of my old fishing buds. Not much room to surf fish on the beaches anymore but I did meet some guys from Gaffney, SC that carp fished in the camp ground ponds. One of them got a 37# last Sunday. Will be taking my carp gear next trip to have something to do when the ocean water is torn up. Heading back the third week of Sept to try again. Will be back to shooting at Butner between now and then. |
| 78 days and only one smoke when my dog died about 4 weeks ago. Was off the medicine for about 4 weeks but I'm going back on it tomorrow. Cravings are getting strong and the nice lady at the pharmacy said that everyone she has talked to had to stay on the meds for at least 6 months. Bummer.......4 more months digestive disorder. |
