Guys, I'm thinking about purchasing a 'Barska Compact Contour Rifle Scope 3-9x' (LINK) to be used on a .22 AR

I like the look of it as 1) It looks good (well I think so) and 2) Its pretty cheap, I'll only be using it at the range @ 25m & 50m and maybe out to 100m if it’s any good.

Does anyone have any views or experience of these?

I know there is a lot of junk out there, but to me this looks like it may be a good starting point, any thoughts?

EOTech will come later!

Many thanks!

EOTech will come later! - Buy once cry once....

Many thanks!

Speaking as someone who has spent years searching for the ideal compact budget scope I feel confident in stating there isn't one..................

Just to beat the (rich) S&B lovers what about the 1-8 Short Dot when it's out...

I've been very happy so far with this tho it's 1-4 rather than the OP's 3-9.

I haven't seen one of these in the flesh yet but pricewise you are probably looking at entry level . I still run an MTC Cobra in 1-4x24 on my V22 and it's fine but not as flexible as I'd like. I'm waiting for Nikon's M223 to hit the shelves.

For .22's you don't need more than 4x anyway, and for CSR 4.5x is the max allowed (in use).......it's not so much the spec. as the build quality and durability.

Team Monkey has arrived.

I don't know any thing about the OP's model of scope, but I think Barska scopes are good value for money.

I was more than happy with mine before I got the Eotech, in fact I'm going to keep it & put it on a PCP when funds allow.

Andy.

I have, they're very nice, I'm probably going to have to get one, then of course get a rifle to go under it!

I received one of these today for sale or return, but might end up keeping it as it really is top quality

The one I have appears to be a newer model and in the pic you can see the brightness buttons on the rear. Not dissimilar to the ones on an EoTech

I believe so

ETA: The only problem at this time is the 35mm rings

James, what do you think about taking a Larue 34mm mount and having it line bored to 35mm?

This one didn't, Border sells them separately

Besides, I would still have eye relief problems unless I used a larue or similar

Whatever you do con't buy the 'steel' rings from Border. They are shite....

Lapping isn't what they need, more like grinding..... I think they must be made on  a farm somewhere in Rumania by the farmers blind wife....

The alloy V-Tac ones aren't too bad but need a decent amount of lapping....

These are the best 35mm readily available.. TSR

You will need a riser though...

If you can get the SPR accurately bored to 35mm do it....

Any idea what the parallax is set at , on that very nice little IOR , Mark ?

Another vote for tps rings. We buy them from brownells usually, but tps will deal with the public directly in the UK, and quickly.
