(I am sure you Florida guy get tired of these threads , so I apologize in advance) I got suckered into bike week, so it appears I will be in Daytona Beach in a few weeks...... a) anyone wanna hook up for a few beers or blender drinks? (obviosly the most importanat and the most overlooks part of any "i am going to be in your neck of the woods" thread.) b) What should I expect? I am under the impression most of the real bikers gave up years ago and it is mostly 50 somethings reliving their youth? Am I wrong? Not that I am really worried about it, just curious. c) Where to avoid? (which will probably be the places I end up cause i don't have a shits bit of common sense) d) where to go ? I am camping at Tomoka state park...... Looks decient and there is electricity on site so the blender drinks will be flowing all week. . Also looks like it won't be 100 freaking degrees at night like my LAST camping attempt in Florida so that is good. |

I can't make it, since I had to sell the bike over the winter. I haven't been to Bike Week in 2 years, but I don't recall any places to really avoid, unless you're drunk. Then it seem like the cops will fuck with you for anything. Sometimes, even sober. My brother nearly got a ticket for doing a burnout in the street when he couldn't have been doing it because he was beside me pumping gas. There's still some old-school, hard-core bikers that show up, and always some Angels or Outlaws around, but Daytona has learned that old-school bikers don't spend a lot of money, while the lawyers with a family and a new Harley will blow a huge wad of cash. Guess which party they're going to cater to? It looks to me like Bike Week has largely turned into a family affair. |

I will be hanging out at Wild Bills for most nights during Bike Week. The g/f has a chair massage concession on the WB property across the street. Wild Bills is next door to The Iron Horse on US1 in Ormond Beach. For the OP: Must see places are Main Street Daytona Beach. Main Street is the Original Home of Bike Week. Still lots of good stuff going on there. Lots of traffic though, get there early. Bruce Rossmeyers Destination Daytona Harley Davidson Dealership, North US1 in Ormond Beach. Million things to do and see. Like all HD Dealerships, they close at 7pm. Great for when you are looking for something to do during the day. The Cabbage Patch: Sopotnik's Cabbage Patch is one of the last "true" biker event locations. This is RAW bike week at its best. Cole Slaw Wrestling, great vendors, good food and everything else under the sun. The Iron Horse Saloon: US1 in Ormond Beach. Another Classic Bike Week Destination. Near round the clock entertainment and partying. Good food and good people. David Allen Coe is part owner and known to get up on stage and play fairly often. Have fun and be safe. The police aren't as bad as some make it out to be. Don't be a drunken idiot and you won't have any problems. |

Couple places to be wary of... Iron Horse Saloon can get a little rough as can Froggy's when the sun goes down. I'm not saying don't go there... but just be mindful. Also the known 'biker' hangout is the Cabbage Patch. A lot of colors and professional drinkers. Other than that, you should have a good time. I've stayed at Tomoka before... haven't been there in a while, but was nice the last time I was there. My $.02 David edit for spelin |
To quote Lewis Black... "You people pay less for liquor than anyone in the country... it's unbafuckinlievable!! What... are you people using the farm subsidy money?" David |

Here's another Bike Week 2008 topic. www.ar15.com/forums/topic.html?b=1&f=134&t=673551 Heve fun, I know I will. |
Thanks , just bought a lock for the trailer this morning.... I got a beat to death 83, VF1100, so I think I will be OK but the Roomate has a newer sportster. SO we will keep a lock on it . |
Your buddy is fine, NOBODY steals sportsters. I will up at the St. Augustine course this weekend, so I won't be ridin. |

I wanted to go this year as I haven't been in a while. But my bike needs a new stator and I just haven't had the chance to do the work. And now that I'm doing some construction on the house, all the building material is stacked in the garage behind the bike, effectively blocking it in there. Maybe next year... |

.
Nope... but I think some of them do it for a living...
