Gentleman,

Spoke to a man over at Lang media, who is very helpful. First off, he is a 2A guy (buy the sound of it) owns 2 black rifles, prior service and he specifically asked if we were affiliated with NYSRPA. When I told him no we were not, and he immediately says "Good because those guys dropped the ball on this one, and I'm not happy." I feel like he will help me sort everything out. Also he told me that the guy who owns B&J Guns in Albany is very vocal about this and he might be willing to put some weight behind this sort of action. anyone who knows him, be sure to hit him up!

Ok so now down to brass tacks. Price

We have 2 options in those digital boards. The East facing board is the one I asked for prices on.

2 packages available, gold and silver. Both have 6 second hang times so exposure per rotation is the same.

Gold level gets us 1100 shows a day on a 36 second rotational basis. This costs $4000 per month.
Silver gets us 550 shows on a 72 second rotational basis. This costs $3200 per month.

Looks like 800 bucks gets us twice the exposure, but its all about price so we will have to decide that at a later date.

The second point here is design. He has told me very clearly that whatever we wish to put up there will be fine as long as it does not contain pornography, foul language, or racial/ religious slurs.

We will also have to have disclosure on the board that will clearly state who the ad is payed for by. we will need and organization name and possibly some form of a website. Nothing big, one of those free hosting sites with a little history about what Cuomo is doing will be fine.

He also assured me that all our information will be confidential business, even so much as taking a cash payment, with no last names, if we so choose. He says they do not disclose ANYTHING to media inquiries but he understood my skepticism on that front.

So with all that being said, we will need to settle on a point man (one who we feel confident handling funds), a website designer guy (someone who can whip those things up quick without any pomp and circumstance, a design guy (Ciraxis has already started to submit some good stuff here).

But most importantly, we need to have a clear vision here. I am all about compromise, but this thing better be cutting and get our point out, with or without Hitler in it. PC is not the way to go here. It needs to be at least a little irreverent!

I suggest we give this until tomorrow evening to come up with our design ideas and our resident Photoshop hooligans can get down to work to submit their prize winning samples....and I will drink whiskey and look at them.

EDIT: I know all you guys will be supportive of this but if you guys want to keep the thread clear from "im in" quotes that will help us filter through and see the ideas once they get posted. I have no doubt in my mind that we will raise the money quickly, because we all have a stake in this. other than than post the ideas, and feel free to recommend people for the different assignments!

Okay, fuck it, I'll buck up $20 even without hitler.  But no pussyfooting around the message.

And it shouldn't stop with just this.

Come on Lenny, if you have something in idea dept you should post it here. You know I support the heavy hitters so put something together and post it right here!

Unless there is a refference to guns or at least the 2nd amndment in this billboard, it comes across like something put up by Al Sharpton.

ok so we need Andrew Cuomo's name as well as a mention of his gun grabbing.

"Andrew Cuomo = Tyrant

They always take the guns first.

Which Civil Right will he trample next?"

So maybe change the text to say "Which civil right will Gov. Cuomo trample next?" or "Which civil right will Gov. Cuomo infringe next?"

I think "trample" or "infringe" are better choices than "destroy."  More accurate.

" he specifically asked if we were affiliated with NYSRPA. When I told him no we were not, and he immediately says "Good because those guys dropped the ball on this one, and I'm not happy." "

Another one…  the same way people talk about the NRA.  As if they have some magical power and they just won't use it. That thinking drives me insane.

I'll volunteer my help designing the website.  We should think of what the domain name should be and what exactly we want the website to be about: the SAFE act in particular, Cuomo's abuse of power, etc.

Also, can you please get the exactly dimensions of the billboard?  If we know the dimensions of the screen, we can create images with the same aspect ratio so the image will come out properly.

This.  I'm glad he's pro-2A, I'm glad he's angry, but I think the anger/fault may be just a little bit misdirected here

ETA: I think that "paid for by the law-abiding citizens..." is a great line.  even if we have to make that our official organization name

I have all that already!

Thanks for stepping up. If we need some funds for a website that is semi decent looking i'd be happy to put a few bucks towards that too. Im guessing it wouldnt run more than 50 bucks.

Image specs

those are the specs for you. let me know if you need anything else!

Here it is:

Since this is an electronic billboard, we use two images that alternate:

#1 is Hitler, and the caption simply reads "HITLER"

#2 is Cuomo, dressed in the Hitler uniform, and the caption simply reads "CUOMO"

Remember, this is on the Interstate. People will be flashing by at 75+ MPH. It needs to be simple and to the point.

And yes, andy will issue an executive order banning political billboards on the Thruway.

But that is what we want. To fire back, and let him know we will not go quietly.

I like them in this order: trample > infringe (which may sound to the avg. guy like we're just repeating a mantra, cf. 2A) > damage (which is too kind).

Lenny were you at the rally?  Have a sign?  Didn't stand in one spot the whole time?

I was at the rally and had a flag, stood pretty much at the same place. The theme at the rally is clear so it doesn't need to appear on the sign.
Billboard is different.

From a technical standpoint I'm wondering where all this leads, since there's money involved.  We need some legal / tax advice from someone in the field.

(Theoretically) if I make a website and buy a billboard for 4 months with your money, will Prince Andrew be sending the tax collector to my door for tax on $16k in income?
Does this need to be done as a Not for profit? Can it be?

Not trying to be a killjoy, but we need to know the hurdles, if any before we get going too fast.

Since it's electronic, alternate with this:

Showing a relationship to dictators does piss him off.

Perhaps the SAFE act symbol with a circle and line through it?

Something like this, without the red words of course, and of better quality?

It could be placed in the lower corner of the billboard, without taking up too much space.
