Anyone know where the hell a guy can find a regular bipod that attaches to a sling swivel? I can't seem to find a damn one that isn't Blackhawk or Harris. I used to have one that held up to every rifle I put it on but i sold it a while back and can't find one like it (from walmart… who doesn't seem to carry them anymore… just stupid shooting sticks). A plain 6 - 9" sling attaching bipod.

What's wrong with a Harris?  I have 2 Harris bipods, I have only one complaint, they attach to the forward sling swivel, and the stupid thumbscrew keeps working loose, its easy to tighten, but it loosens again at the drop of a hat.  I guess I'm going to have to Loctite it to stop it.

I'd love to have a Harris but it's not in the budget so I've been using one from UTG iirc, it can be used from a sling swivel or a picatinny rail.  They were very affordable and have worked perfectly for us (my sis and I both have them).  If you are looking for an inexpensive bipod that will actually work I'd check out UTG.  They aren't a Harris by any means but they'll work.

This will fix your problem with the screw. Midway I have one on all my Harris bipods.

That screw is for the tilting mechanism, I don't have any of the tiltable models. My problem is with the thumbscrew that is on the mechanism that attaches to the front swivel screw.  It works loose just from handling the rifle, and even when its sitting on the bench shooting, it will loosen up, next thing you know the rifle is flopping around on the bipod mount.

I had the same issue with my M-14 when I was in afghanistan.  I think i just tightened the holy living piss out of it with some pliers.  It didnt come loose again after that.  The bi-pod was a harris.

Did some thinking and decided that for the amount of shooting it do, I might actually be better off with a shooting bag rest and/or shooting stick. I might make a shooting stick with some left over lumber in my back yard.

You'll never get the stability you need for precision shooting from a shooting stick.  They are designed more for giving a little extra stability for hunting.  Spend $30 on a UTG bipod and you will be just fine, you can buy a Harris someday.   I have a bag rest also but there's no doubt the bipod is far easier to use due to it's light weight and adjustability.  The bags are very stable but not adjustable and are really heavy.

This. While the I'm sure that the others will work alright, I would wait until I could get the Harris....
