Spent over two hours getting one this AM in the NWAC...

Very nice lady folks but overworked.

What is the average time for this process?

I think the longest I've waited was 45 minutes (and that was on a busy day at SEAC). Other times I was in and out in 15 minutes. It is subject to how busy they are at the time. They take a lot of reports, and it depends on how many people are in front of you and the type of reports they are taking.

Two hours does seem a little long, though.

2 hours????  I always go to the main NLV station on Lake Mead and LVB.  I've been in an out in 15 min or less usually.  But I always go at non-rush times too.

last few times i've done it in Henderson at the station on Green Valley. (just south of Green Valley Ranch and the 215)

i've been the only one there doing anything and i've been out in 10 minutes.

however, they'll ONLY do it for Henderson residents.

i'm actually closer to the main office in "downtown" Henderson at 223 Lead St, but i usually go the the other station.

haven't gone to the new station on Sunset east of Boulder yet either, but it's probably just as quiet.

i used to live near the SWAC, didn't like going to that location for blue cards.

If you go to a Metro station, go to Convention Center Area Command at Sierra Vista/Swenson. They usually don't have a wait at all, so you can be in and out in 20 minutes or less.

I'm starting to see a pattern here.......not that there are actually less guns in any area mentioned

I am actually glad to see that my bad luck is not the average waiting time.

I doubt there will be a next time for quite a while.  I don't usually add to the collection these days, but a deal was a deal.

Fired the Ruger LCP today using R-P ball ammunition.  The pistol jammed on the 12th and 23rd rounds out of 25 fired  More ammuntion and more firing before qualification and carry.  If it continues to jam it will never be carried.

Maybe try a different brand of ammo.  Not sure about the R-P but their UMC line is the weaksauce and was the only stuff that wouldn't run in my glock 17.  Or my 5906 for that matter.

I'm moving into the area soon, and my buddy just went down to register his pistol and saw a sign that said people were limited to registering 2 guns per person per day.  With that limitation, I would literally have to spend the better part of a month just to remain legal.  How can that be legal to require such hoops and only permit someone to register onesy twosy when they are new in town.

The stations aren't supposed to do that. If he goes to the station I listed above, they will register all of his guns at once.

I've never heard of that either.... in fact, I know we've done more than that in one stop before.  I need to go down there within the next week or so, so I can help verify as well.

If for whatever reason this isn't an isolated station saying this, wouldn't this constitute an undue hardship in order to stay in compliance with the law?  How could the requirement to register be levyed while artificially limiting the number of handguns one can register per day?  If budet limitations prevent the required number of people be available to register any and every firearm capable of being concealed, then perhaps the registration requirement should go the way of the dodo.

I've only registered with Metro.  Does Northtown have a different policy then?

The last time I was at the Cheyene Station they had a sign that stated 2 firearms due to staffing.

So at what point do you sue to get this whole thing killed?  If budget and staffing are keeping you from being able to fulfil the self-enforced policy, then the only solution is to drop the requirement.  I did a quick inventory, and it would take the better part of 3 weeks to register every firearm that I would have to register.  To me, and I believe to the average citizen, that is an unconstitutionally undue burden in order to stay in compliance with the law.

We need PICS of those signs!

Our state legislature convenes next week.
Provide the pics and these observations to our sympathetic legislators, maybe the whole damn "Blue Card" BS can be thrown out.

When was that? Metro firearms came out with a policy PROHIBITING stations from doing that, due to the fact that the ordinance is very specific, and that rule would prohibit some people from being in compliance. As for them claiming that it's due to staffing, they have more office workers than any other Metro substation.

Yeah... when was that?  If this was years ago, then undertstandable and it has been addressed.  But was this recently?

I think it was in Sept or Oct of 2010.
I will go by tomorrow and check and see if the sign is still there and take a picture.

A county ordnance and official inaction that defaults lawful citizens into non-compliance?
I would hope they would!

They are there to do more than just raise our taxes each session.
We are supposed to be a "State Preemption Law" state.
LV got a waiver from having the same law as the rest of our state, if they cannot be bothered to administer that program honestly they should lose it.
The really should lose it anyway, but not administering it competently is another reason to void it.

If there needs to be a test case, I am in a very good position to be it.  I have a spotless background, a large collection to register, and am moving in to the city and needing to register everything at once.
