Tried boiled peanuts for the first time today. They're pretty tasty.
When you get a small one and it's all mush inside, do you still eat it/scrape the mush out of the shell?

Food of the Gods.

Eat it all. Mush, no mush, it's all good.

I just found a great produce stand right by my house that does a super job on their boiled peanuts. The wife or I stop in at least once per week now to pick some up.

Love Boiled Peanuts.

Sometimes I make my own.

Sometimes I buy them from Churches that make them to raise money.

Never have eaten them from a gas station though, not sure if I want to try.

It was a small gas station somewhere between Augusta and Waynseboro. I was hesitant at first cause they were just sitting in a crock pot by the door, self serve. I figured, what the heck. It's been a few hours and I'm still feelin' alright.
Do you put anything else in the pot when you boil 'em? (Other than water and nuts.)

A metric shit ton of salt...

Damn now I have a craving!

I had some Cajun style Boiled Peanuts when I was in Florida. Nice and spicy.

I've also heard that some people add bacon grease but I've never tried that.

My uncle is a peanut farmer. We used to have these a lot. Why people don't love boiled peanuts is beyond me.

I don't really care for them although my wife and kids can't seem to get enough.

I boil them up a bushel at the time in an outside cooker several times each year. My wife freezes the peanuts they don't eat and they seem to freeze and thaw well according to her.

Me too. When I moved here 10 years ago, I was baffled by the "BOILED PEANUTS" signs.  As someone who was totally inexperienced,  boiling peanuts made as much sense as boiling steak.  But then I tried them and I was born again.

Now I make them.  I try to find jumbo fresh green peanuts (4 quarts), half a cup of salt,  combine in crockpot, and wait 8 hours.

Simple, pure pleasure.

If you liked the gas station peanuts, you'll love the real thing. Pour in a can of beer as well. Mighty tasty.

go to your local store in the produce section get Green Peanuts

Or go to Sams and get the extrabigass size can of boiled peanuts, add about a cup of salt to them and boil for an hour, brings them up to the correct salt level.

For hot add old bay or similar

Dead serious. We used to go up to the Blue Ridge a few times a year, and there was a guy who had a stand on the side of the road. That's how he cooked his. Best I ever had.
