With my tax refund on the way I decided to go for my first black rifle - well I got my check and put the rifle together all in the same day. I got a Model 1 Sales standard AR-15 20" kit off of the trader forum last week and a stripped Stag lower from Oak Grove Arms (+1 great to deal with!) today. Even with a few moments of frustration, I was surprised how easy it was to put together. The only tools I used was a pliers, a screwdriver for the pistol grip, and some masking tape. $594 total to build. Pictures and range report to follow. |

I did a build a month back with a vet who had been asking. He bought his stripped lower the day after I got mine. we get our kits from JT and put them together in about an hour. Spent most of the time explaining what each part is for. He got a kick out of how the slide release roll pin took 2 sets of hands. (I am just not coordinated enough to do this on my own) I gave him a couple Cproducts gray mags till the State Fair show comes. (range mags) He knows he needs to get about a dozen before the stupid politicians ruin it for everyone and only let criminals have guns. |

The lower was $130 with tax. After struggling with that front pivot pin and detent my roommate came up with the novice idea of using the 'tip' of the pivot pin to push the detent in and then rotating it and inserting it into it's hole in the receiver.
